An unbelievable night at Rasselbock, as these always seem to be. King Trivia brings out the best in people, and tonight appeared to be a couples only event!

8 teams of two sat down to a battle of wit and will, fighting for the top three spots in a hotly contested showdown.

A bonus for our players came during the Appetizer Round. In honor of National Donut Day, this Quizmaster brought in special prizes to hand out to those teams unlucky enough to miss out on some primo potato pancakes.

As we sped into Round 5, our top two spots were neck and neck. That pressure prompted one team to double down a bit too aggressively. They were unable to lock in a single point for two consecutive rounds. However, their intense performance in the first half of the competition left them sitting pretty in second place.

In the end, Germans Love David Rasselbock secured another victory, as well as accolades from their competitors.

QUIZ RECAP

It was a Halloween themed night at Rasselbock and the teams were hungry for more than just trivia. That's why this crafty Quizmaster came stocked with a bucket of candy to keep these little monsters at bay. Even better, DJ Pandora had a whole mess of Halloween adjacent songs to keep the mood going.

Things stepped off quickly with our reigning champs the Gruesome Twosome jumping in the lead. Sassy Rufus, another veteran group, kept pace and overtook first place several times. It quickly became apparent that these two teams were in it for all the candy.

Meanwhile, newbies and veterans alike threw down in round after round of a spooky spectacular. Heroes of Canton and Boardwalk 11 battled for a place on the leaderboard, while newbies Buckers waited to show off their niche knowledge.

The appetizer round went to Sassy, but that made an opening for Gruesome Twosome to step in for the lead. Going into Round 6, it was a nail biter. Both Sassy and Gruesome landed perfect scores in Rounds 6...but neither chose to double down. It would be the deciding moment of the competition.

Newbie team Buckers went into Round 7 with a major deficit. Still, they managed to name 9 of 10 songs from Rock Horror Picture Show, gaining valuable points at the end of the show. In the end, Gruesome Twosome just had too big a lead to beat. Had Sassy doubled in six, however, they would have taken the night.

Another magnificent evening in the bag, and that's not even counting when DJ Pandora put on "I Want Candy" and EVERYONE went to the bucket to grab some fun-sized treats.

QUIZ RECAP

The final week of Oktoberfest kicked off with the necessary fanfare. Drums, trumpets, a 10-piece accordion-heavy band...these are all things that I asked for but was not provided. This Quizmaster will be taking things up with management later.

4 teams arrived with the itch for quizzing, and their rabid enthusiasm lured in all the tables around the room. Soon we had a show of veterans versus newbies, with points flying and double-downs dropping like rain.

It quickly became apparent that one team had come to play for keeps: David Rasselbock took an early lead with a double down, but then kept that pressure the entire game. Even when faced with some of the most outlandish and daunting questions, they never blinked. It was something to behold.

On the newbie front, MC's of Trivia used their knowledge of 80's TV shows and wealthy dogs to earn a tray of the famous potato pancakes, and those carbs gave them the energy they needed to stay in the fight all the way to the final.

In the end, it wasn't even close. David Rasselbock crushed the competition with a shattering 72 points. Later, it was revealed that they were a portion of the League Champions Team of Enchantment!

All of our assembled quizzers had a blast, and some are even thinking of attending the upcoming Slasher Film event this coming Sunday.
