Substitute "double-or-nothing" for "sword" and you describe the dynamic in play at every King Trivia quiz. And thus explaineth the results of this week's quiz at Golden Road Brewery in Glendale.
A well-executed, perfectly timed double in the final round vaulted Florida Zee right into the winner's circle, where they enjoyed a $50 gift certificate and the admiration of their competitors.
Or perhaps it wasn't admiration we saw on the faces of A Rickles in Time, who squeezed out a second place finish by winning a tight tie-breaker with The Bad Explainers. Both teams were ahead of Rickles (RIP, Don!) going into that explosive final round. But...you know...the sword.
At the other end of the spectrum, Passover-booked got badly stung on the unsuccessful double, not once, but twice in the final two rounds to drop out of contention. Honorable mention goes out to I've Got a BRAD Feeling About This, who finished with an oh-so-close score of 79 - just 3 points shy of glory!
