About Hop Merchants Bottle Shop & Taproom

Hop Merchants Bottle Shop & Taproom is a craft beer bottle shop and tasting room. We offer 16 rotating taps of Los Angeles-area beer as well as a wide variety of bottles and cans from your favorite independent breweries, which you can purchase to go or to enjoy in-house (with $1.50 corkage).  We also have an open food policy, meaning outside food is welcome and delivery is even encouraged. It's all good!

Located in the NoHo Arts District of North Hollywood, California, our mission is to channel our passion for great beer, community, and create a fun, chill atmosphere for people to hang, drink, shop and debate the deeper mysteries of life...such as who would win in a fistfight between Batman and Captain America? What's the difference between partly cloudy and partly sunny?  If the Zombie Apocalypse started today, what would be your weapon of choice?  Why are there no such thing as B batteries?  If humans evolved from monkeys, why are there still monkeys?

What a wonderful night for trivia! Even though the crowd was smaller than usual, it was mighty. The top three teams surpassed the 70 point mark -- always an impressive feat. 

At the start of the game, I was  convinced my email with the answers got leaked because almost all teams doubled successfully in the first round and half in the second. But it just turned out we had some smart cookies in the crowd. It wasn't until hero vs villian (Round  3) separated the pack into two groups. From then on, it was a game of leap from among the top three teams. 

But once again, our "groundhog friends" -- as I like to call them -- secured the lead by Round 5 and were golden (see what I did there) through to the end. In the spirit of Halloween, I looked into my crystal ball and am feeling a The Keg (like the 2018 movive The Meg) win in trivia future. Hey Mommy! once again had a great showing. Unfortunately the Ricky Bobby fatigue is starting to set in. They are due for a win!

I've decided to start awarding a "Hype (Wo)man" of the week. This may be the most important award because trivia is just better with the hype. This week goes to Blue Barracudas!!!

I have also decided to do a beer find of the week. Hop Merchant has such an amazing beer selection that I want to showcase my favorite of the week. This week was the Faction Vandelay Wit -- equipped with an image of George Costanza. As a Seinfeld fan, I LOVED the genius call back to our beloved George's "place of employment". I wonder if they are hiring?!?
