As the leaves change with the seasons, so too does the crowd at Marco Polo. Regulars are returning in droves from long summer excursions and sunlit adventures as the sun goes down earlier and earlier. Yes, we are entering spoopy season. My favorite vibe of the whole year, leading up to the best holiday we've ever collectively come up with as a species. No other reason or method of celebration will surpass letting our freak flags fly on all Hallow's eve. But I digress. This entry is about the usual suspects of Marco Polo, some of whom were already letting their freak flags fly with intimidating chants when I announced their team name. That's right, some teams returned with a war cry. In all my years of quiz motherhood, I've yet to hear these, and now, it's all I want to hear.
I don’t wanna say the war cries won the game, but what a strategy! Perhaps it's that energy that helped Scratch and Sniff come out on top, narrowly beating their long-time rivals Fish Makes 5. And while Leo's Rawr became more of a meow by the end, that ferocious energy had catapulted them to the top 3 by the end of the game. Does a war cry change the trajectory of a trivia game? Okay fine, maybe not, but who doesn't want another excuse to let that freak flag fly??
