ALL THE FEELS

Trivia at Barney's Beanery Pasadena was about more than just the scores this week, it was about all my regular teams trying their best to make me shed some tears. From tribute team names, to farewell/congratulations cards, to going-away-gifts, to a standing ovation after I read the final scores (that one might have done the trick)... I was reminded all night long why I've loved hosting trivia every Thursday at the Beanery for the last three years. Whether I was your quizmaster once or twice or hundreds of times, you guys are the real reason I enjoyed getting on the mic every week to mispronounce words and attempt to keep you entertained. I will miss you more than you'll probably ever realize, but hopefully I'll be able to stop in every once in a while to try to answer a few questions myself.

The top of the scoreboard was crowded with the teams I see week in and week out, but it was The Team I'll Miss Most of All that took home 1st place and the $100 prize, Intravenus De Milo wasn't far behind to win $50 for 2nd place, and Bon Voyage Quitter also had a strong showing with 3rd place and a $25 prize. In the drinking round, Pasadena Peeps turned in the closest guess at how many total quizzes I've hosted (not surprising since they've probably been witness to nearly 80% of them) and for that won the free pitcher of beer.

Barney's Basement is the place to be ...

At least on Thursday night, because once again it was a full house with nary an empty seat in sight!

Also again, the evening started with some very tough questions in Rounds 1 & 2 because after 2 rounds there was only a 7 point spread between 1st and 17th place. Of course in Round 3, that's when things got interesting as many teams doubled up with their 2-letter answers and started to break away from the pack.

In the end, We Thought We Were Speed Dating made the best of an awkward situation to turn in the most correct answers and win the $100 1st Prize. Kevin Duranti-Christ was also impressive and scored the $50 2nd Place Prize. Finally, Pasadena Peeps were back on the podium again to snag $25 for 3rd Place.

Some teams show up each week just to see if they can win the free pitcher of beer... and this week it went to Electric Mayhem!

Standing Room Only! (well, nearly)

That's right, if you didn't get down to the Barney's Basement early, trivia geeks were battling wits just to score a spot to sit and play.

Banana's Foster jumped to an early lead with the only double in Round 1, and thanks to their 10 point guess in Gambler's Corner (aka Guess Who), they put the rest of their competition in the rear-view mirror after round 4 to secure 1st Place and the $100 prize. To add insult to injury, they crushed the hopes of other teams when they also won the free pitcher of beer. Talk about greed!

They Spilled Beer on the Answer Sheet ripped their team name straight from reality by handing me soggy answer sheets in nearly ever round, and also managed to take the 2nd Place prize of $50!

Pasadena Peeps returned to the winners circle again to take 3rd place and the $25 prize with 8o points, a score that is usually good enough for 1st on any other night (apparently there were too many geniuses in the room this Thursday).
