Barney's Basement is the place to be ...

At least on Thursday night, because once again it was a full house with nary an empty seat in sight!

Also again, the evening started with some very tough questions in Rounds 1 & 2 because after 2 rounds there was only a 7 point spread between 1st and 17th place. Of course in Round 3, that's when things got interesting as many teams doubled up with their 2-letter answers and started to break away from the pack.

In the end, We Thought We Were Speed Dating made the best of an awkward situation to turn in the most correct answers and win the $100 1st Prize. Kevin Duranti-Christ was also impressive and scored the $50 2nd Place Prize. Finally, Pasadena Peeps were back on the podium again to snag $25 for 3rd Place.

Some teams show up each week just to see if they can win the free pitcher of beer... and this week it went to Electric Mayhem!

See everyone again next week (or sooner if you come to this event) and until then, cheers!

Andy

Standing Room Only! (well, nearly)

That's right, if you didn't get down to the Barney's Basement early, trivia geeks were battling wits just to score a spot to sit and play.

Banana's Foster jumped to an early lead with the only double in Round 1, and thanks to their 10 point guess in Gambler's Corner (aka Guess Who), they put the rest of their competition in the rear-view mirror after round 4 to secure 1st Place and the $100 prize. To add insult to injury, they crushed the hopes of other teams when they also won the free pitcher of beer. Talk about greed!

They Spilled Beer on the Answer Sheet ripped their team name straight from reality by handing me soggy answer sheets in nearly ever round, and also managed to take the 2nd Place prize of $50!

Pasadena Peeps returned to the winners circle again to take 3rd place and the $25 prize with 8o points, a score that is usually good enough for 1st on any other night (apparently there were too many geniuses in the room this Thursday).

Until next Thursday at 8pm,

Quizmaster Andy

Big Bouncing Balls ... and Trivia!!!

Just as Kevin Durant & the Warriors were putting on a basketball clinic for the Cavaliers, We'll Always Have Paris was schooling their competition and running away with 1st place and the $100 prize! Intravenus de Milo got a slow start to the evening with a ZERO in round 1, but their steady improvement throughout the quiz was enough to earn 2nd place and a $50 prize. Eat Knowledge also stumbled out of the gate, but temporarily moved into 1st place with a key double on the Find the Connection round... unfortunately they didn't have confidence in their knowledge of Wrestling movies in round 6, failing to capitalize on what could have been their 2nd double, ultimately finishing them in 3rd place and a $25 prize... but don't cry for the them Argentina, because they also won the free pitcher of beer!

See everyone next Thursday at 8pm!

Cheers, Andy (did you know I drink 2 beers every Tuesday???)
