Another great night of trivia at the Universal Hilton! The game gained a lot of momentum as the game progressed through the evening. It started off with the small but mighty team of TNT - We're Dynamite in a resounding lead as Round 1 proved to be a challenging one for many of the other teams. At the beginning of round 2 some exciting new teams jumped in and proved they were also in it to win it with Better Late Than Never showing off their strong skills in the picture round. Round 4 was really fun as the crowd really oohed and aahed at the clues and the few patrons not playing trivia desperately tried to Guess Who I might be getting at. And then in Round 6, To Xfinity and Beyond pulled the ultimate gamble and bet double or nothing and walked away with 20 points and suddenly became a prize contender!! Finally, Round 7 was such a good question and left everyone scratching their heads trying to pick just 10. The question proved to be a great equalizer and the final scores stayed about the same. Coming in 3rd place- To Xfinity and Beyond, TNT- We're Dynamite coming in 2nd place, and the winners- Better Late Than Never!! And even though he did unfortunately come in last place, the player on team Last Place gave King Trivia a huge compliment. He mentioned he is a regular player of trivia back east and he's never played such a creative trivia game with so many fun twists and turns! So clearly, fun was had by all, even those coming in last place 🙂

Game Rank Team # Team Name Score Teams Beaten Team Beat Average
1 Better Late Than Never 44 6 1.000

Each week of trivia at the Universal Hilton just keeps getting better and better!! I was thrilled when the crowd applauded with enthusiasm at the beginning of the game. One of my favorite parts of the game was The Interview team, who was literally in the middle of interviewing a job applicant but decided to play trivia at the same time! And from Round 1, The Interview let it be known that they were there to play! As the game went on, the family team of The Flying Cheetahs also began to present itself as a real contender. The two kids on the team were especially beneficial in the picture round. And Deek's enthusiasm and commitment was contagious. All the teams were very involved, often cheering and exclaiming as the answers were read. In the final round, the game took an exciting turn as there was a tie for second place between The Flying Cheetahs and The Interview. I asked a tie breaking question which yielded the final results of 1st Place: Deek, Second Place: The Interview and Third Place: The Flying Cheetahs. What a great night of trivia!!

Game Rank Team # Team Name Score Teams Beaten Team Beat Average
1 25248 Deek 34 5 1.000
2 The Flying Cheetahs 27 3 0.700
2* The Interview 27 3 0.700
4 Vivian 20 2 0.400
5 Team Flappy 14 1 0.200
6 Traveler 11 0 0.000

Our second week at Cafe Sierra was quite a memorable one and the crowd was especially enthusiastic. Special shoutout to Violeta, one of the servers, who did a great job getting people excited to play. The first round was intense as each team tried to size each other up. A few teams even moved tables away from each other as there was a bit of a taunter on one of the teams in the middle of the room. J &J made a late but strong entrance into the game. Suddenly Diamonds in the Rough gained some steam and really started to dominate. This only started a rivalry with Whiskey Dix(with an X) who started to build momentum. In Round 6 Calvin & Hobbes made an especially bold choice by betting double or nothing. Unfortunately that gamble didn't pay off and they ended up adding zero to their score in round 6. The final round was close, but in the last moments and by only 3 points, Diamonds in the Rough came out as the big winner!!! And after chatting with them post-game, their team name makes more sense, they got engaged earlier in the day! Congrats to the newly engaged couple(they are circled in the last pic) and to the lovely member of Calvin & Hobbs celebrating her birthday. See you next week!
