About Malo Restaurant

Our menu is impeccably prepared using solely fresh ingredients and a whole lot of love. We believe in great recipes, balance, and most importantly, consistency. Our kitchen’s ground beef and pickle tacos, burnt habanero crema salsa, and the bar staff’s no-compromise margaritas have been blogged about, mimicked, and consumed in enormous quantities from the day we first rolled them out. Since opening the original location in 2003, we’ve built Malo into a favorite Silver Lake dining destination with signature dishes including our made-to-order “chuey” chips, Mexican prepared corn, Shrimp Fundito, Ensenada Bacon Wrapped Shrimp, and braised chicken hard shell tacos.

Malo had its own mini tournament of champions tonight! A showdown between three deftly skilled teams with their own histories of victory. It was neck and neck until Round 4, when Rouben Mamoulian’s Orthotics defied impulse and took their time to answer, solidifying an untouchable lead.

Ultimately a fantastic and fun game from that point on- and a smart one too! No team got less than nine points in the final round. It was a battle of the brains; I personally can’t wait for Malo to hold a rematch.

It was a dark and stormy night, which might have explained why many people weren’t going out tonight.

Only two teams came out for trivia, but they made every round count. One team was able to seal the deal in the final round and turned their name into prophecy- they were “And the Winners Are...”

Still, a delightful night where honestly EVERYONE won the drinking round. There’s no place like Malo.

Great night for Malo! Everyone played well and played boldly, but in the end there was no topping Rouben Maoulian’s Orthotics once they got their hold on first place in round four. The remaining teams never gave up and it was a close race for second, with El Silencio Es El Mejor coming up from behind. Can’t wait to see what these teams bring to the table next week.
