As the poet Rob Thomas once said, man, it's a hot one...inside the Marco Polo Bar & Grill this week! (Pretty sure that's in the official lyric sheet, right?)
Two teams battled head-to-head for that coveted first place finish in a game that was a whole lotta fun, but anything but Smooth. In the end, trusty regulars Y'all Motherfuckers Need Science eked out a 3-point win vs. Sticky Chicken Fingers, although both put up a hell of a fight with successful Double-or-Nothings in our "Hymns for the Weekend" round.
The last prize of the evening went to our last place team, Patootle, who thoroughly impressed yours truly by maintaining a negative point score until the last two rounds. Good thing they know their geography!
Will Sticky Chicken Fingers resurface next week for a rematch? Will Y'all Motherfuckers Need Science run away with yet another W? It was an eventful night at Marco Polo Bar & Grill this Tuesday, with a rapidly shifting leaderboard, a surprise thunderstorm, lots of delicious-looking chicken, and a special karaoke set by one third of the night's winning team, Azur. Best rendition of Forever in Blue Jeans since that 2001 Will Ferrell Gap commercial? This Quizmaster sure thinks so.
Our winning team overcame a rocky start thanks to a big bet on a Double or Nothing, which didn't work out quite so well for veteran teams and early favorites Y'all Motherfuckers Need Science and Vaxxed not Waxxed, with the latter taking home a $15 gift card for their triumphant last place finish.
Pro tip: if anyone asks you if the Notre Dame Basilica is in Paris, it just might be a trick question.
