About Scuttlebutt Taproom & Brewery

 

Founded by Phil and Cynthia “Scuttle” Bannan in 1996, the idea started as a homebrewing kit for Father’s Day 1990. As thoughtful as the gift was, it was also a source of strife – Scuttle wanted to use the kitchen for preparing meals for the family while Phil was crowding her out in favor of homemade beer. To maintain marital bliss we decided to move out of the kitchen and into a larger operation. A business plan was established in 1995 and we grew our operation from 5 gallon buckets to a 20 barrel system.

 

We brewed our first beer on July 4, 1996 with a 20 barrel system in the brew house, two 20 barrel fermenters and one 20 barrel bright tank. We brewed three styles of beer and finished out that first year with 170 barrels sold. Since then our capacity has grown and we have broadened our product line to include more than 20 styles of hand-crafted ales and lagers.

 

After more than 20 years Scuttlebutt Brewing Company remains family owned and independent.

Welcome to another Tuesday triva night at Scuttlebutt. It was a full house tonight.

After two rounds Brew World Order was running away and leading by 18 over second place.

Not much changed in the standings until round 5 when Unhappy Hour doubled up and jumped into second place by themselves by 7 points. How long would that last?

Unhappy Hour went for two doubles in a row but was unsuccessful. It Puts the Lotion on the Skin jumped into second place.

Round 7 was a tough round for everybody except the leaders. It Puts the Lotion on the Skin got zero points allowing PDRoE to tie them for second. Unhappy Hour only needed 2 points to tie but only mustered up 1 point.

Tie breaker: How many calories in a cinnamon apple pie from Popeye's. Surprisingly only 236, which gave It Puts the Lotion on the Skin second place. Yes, Brew World Order came in first.

Next week the reigning house champs will not be here, who will take their spot at the top?

Welcome to King Trivia at Scuttlebutt tonight. Is anybody going to dethrone Brew World Order this week?

after 4 rounds, Brew World Order had a perfect score of 50 but Lovin Pintful was still within shouting distance at 42. Everybody else was playing for third place at this time.

Round 5 could have been the round to make the move but since everybody answered Paris for the Notre Dame Basillica, a lot of doubled attempts went down the drain.

In the end it was Brew World Order and Lovin Pintful taking the two top spots. The new team Whiskey Business came in third.

I felt a little under pressure having an ex King Trivia employee bless us with her presence. Nice meeting you tonight, Mary. Hope to see you come back.

We will try the new scoring app again next week. If it works, I think everybody will be happy. Have a great week everybody.

If you guys are nto at Scuttlebutt King Trivia on tuesday nights you are definately missing out on a fun time.

We had seven teams trying for that coveted title of Trivia Gods.

As normal Brew World Order opened with a double in the first round. I can not remember the last time they have not done that.

They would remain in the lead until the "Guess Who", The Lovin Pintful scored a 10 points with the leaders guessing incorrectly.

The Lovin Pintful was felling confident the game was theirs. They even took a chance to double on "Find Connection" to expand their lead even more but unfortunately that was a failed attempt and Brew World Order took back the lead and did not look back.

I want to thank everybody and especially the three new teams that played tonight. We Came Here for Tacos didn't even know each other before the night and ended up going out afterwards with each other. That is what these nights are all about. Having fun and making friends.
