In a city known more for its glitz than its grit, Angel City Brewery is proud to rough things up a bit and work beneath the shiny surface. Our home in the Los Angeles Arts District is both brewery and canvas, the center of a revival for the city's artists, musicians, hustlers, and craftspeople. It's an LA that's as ambitious as it is diverse & and our beer is no exception.
Teams tonight at Angel City Brewery were in for a horrific surprise, or rather, a fantastic surprise involving a horrifying franchise, when they arrived and realized the depths of the Alien lore they would be getting into. Teams enjoyed questions about Sigourney Weaver’s shoes (Reeboks, if you didn’t know), the method by which various crewmembers of the Nostromo died, and what that damn cat that stuck around the whole time was named! When they weren’t answering questions about the movies, they were being fed tons of frankly sick merchandise from the movies, including some truly terrifying Facehugger models, and drinking the crew’s new favorite beer, Angel City’s Aspen Beer on a super-duper sale.
If they didn’t know a ton about aliens, the teams caught up in points with questions about auto manufacturers better than Tesla (all of them IMO), the Pillsbury Doughboy (is he a man? Is he a mascot?), and Los Angeles (convenient, since we were in downtown LA!)
Our winning team tonight, with an incredible 3 successful doubles, was 1927 Ping Pong Champs, closely followed by the very respectable Jesus Loves Winners and Love After Centrl. What points the rest of the teams didn’t get was made up for with comradery, fun, and a large box full of hats, shirts, and other accoutrements given away throughout the night.
If I learned anything tonight, it was that we should all go see Alien: Romulus. The world depends on it.
