About Bar Charlie

Bar Charlie landed in the North Lake Union neighborhood of Seattle in December 2016. Bar Charlie aims to be a comfortable neighborhood bar featuring beers, food and spirits crafted in the greater Pacific Northwest.

Bar Charlie's interior concept is inspired by the history of the De Havilland Beaver Seaplane and is a mix of actual seaplane parts, wood, concrete and metal.  The walls have photography and art detailing the history of Seaplanes on Lake Union.

Bar Charlie was created by Christian Thomason with mentoring and construction assistance from Chris Navarra.

Bar Charlie evolved out of the desire to do something more than tackle an endless mountain of bureaucratic paperwork.  It’s intended to be a neighborhood gathering spot, a place to unwind with good drinks and food.

QUIZ RECAP

The competition was as frenetic as the combatants were fierce. We had a tense four-way deadlock between Team Yoda, the Flying Wombats, The Goonies, and the Smalley Pirates right from the very the start of Round 1 all the way into Round 7. You better believe the tension was palpable as our teams battled for every piece of knowledge their brains could grab ahold of; leads were traded back and forth in every round and the teams were never more than five points apart from one another.

Give these fine folks a hand because they left it all on the field as they burst through a nerve-wracking final round that left them all within a four point margin of one another. But only one could emerge with the glory, only one could claim the honor and prestige of being crowned the night's........Second Place Champions.

Because it was the Smooth Hands Crew (plus Karen) who took this night's contest by storm and nearly doubled the point total of our second place finishers with a whopping 67 points. After a daring 'Double or Nothing' in the second round quickly put them ahead by 13 points, these astute compadres had a firm hold on first place all through the evening. They even managed an astonishing first clue answer for 10 points in our "Guess Who" round.

Although there were daring attempts by The Smalley Pirates and The Goonies to try to cut back this deficit through some courageous Double Or Nothings, they both fell short by just one difficult question. In the end, a good time was had by all, and we even had time to fit in a little friendly debate about whether 'maw' should have been an acceptable answer for a three letter body part*.

*For those wondering, Merriam Webster defines 'maw' as being 1) The receptacle into which food is taken by swallowing, and 2) the throat, gullet, or jaws, especially of a voracious animal. Because we were looking for a specific body part, not parts, it was duly excluded by myself under my Holy Quizmaster Authority.
