About Bar Charlie

Bar Charlie landed in the North Lake Union neighborhood of Seattle in December 2016. Bar Charlie aims to be a comfortable neighborhood bar featuring beers, food and spirits crafted in the greater Pacific Northwest.

Bar Charlie's interior concept is inspired by the history of the De Havilland Beaver Seaplane and is a mix of actual seaplane parts, wood, concrete and metal.  The walls have photography and art detailing the history of Seaplanes on Lake Union.

Bar Charlie was created by Christian Thomason with mentoring and construction assistance from Chris Navarra.

Bar Charlie evolved out of the desire to do something more than tackle an endless mountain of bureaucratic paperwork.  It’s intended to be a neighborhood gathering spot, a place to unwind with good drinks and food.

QUIZ RECAP

Seattleites know Summer doesn't officially start here until July 5th, and the weather drove the point home yesterday. The Trivia-goers trickeled in like the rain, but ultimately we had six terrific teams for Tuesday trivia!

Where is Bob? started off the game with a whopping 14 points in Round 1, showing it pays-off to register your team at KingTrivia.com AND go Double-or-Nothing when you know your General Knowledge is solid.

The Picture Round stumped our teams on a few of the "Australian Animal" characters - not a single team got Reginald Koala from American Dad or Buster Moon from Sing! So Round 2 kept the scores pretty consistent from the first round.

In Round 3, Sleeping Booty jumped into the lead with their "pop" theme Double-or-Nothing throw down.

Round 4 was a Guess What? this week, in which we were looking for a famous movie (a nice change from the Guess Who?'s and Guess Where?'s). Although Where is Bob? turned in a wrong answer this round, costing them 1 point, they still remained in their 2nd place running. Then two of the teams turned in their right answers on the 8 point clue, and two more on the 4 point clue, we kept the standings fairly steady.

Our Find the Connection Round this week was a fun one, with a few of the teams getting pretty close, but no one actually reached that perfect 10 (or 20). Two teams tried to double down, but ended up with nothing on Round 5. The most commonly missed question being #6, unfortunately Serbia did NOT win the Beach Volleyball gold in 2016 as most teams thought... it was Water Polo!

Turning the page to Round 6, matching the films with their voiceover narrator, all I can say is our six teams did better than I would have done on my own. Where is Bob? even got all 10 matches correct - great work!

And finally, Round 7 asked the teams to name 10 of the 11 countries with the highest Islamic population, which was also a tough round. Our smarty teams for the most part got either 6 or 7 of the correct countries!

In the end it was Sleeping Booty who took home the win in 1st place! In 2nd was Where is Bob? and I did find out that Bob eventually showed up to support his namesake team (great job, Bob!). And 3rd place went to Quizzards of Oz.

Big thanks also to newcomers, Just Here for the Whiskey, Two's Company, and White Ham - it wouldn't have been the same without you!

See you all again next week!
