About Bar Charlie

Bar Charlie landed in the North Lake Union neighborhood of Seattle in December 2016. Bar Charlie aims to be a comfortable neighborhood bar featuring beers, food and spirits crafted in the greater Pacific Northwest.

Bar Charlie's interior concept is inspired by the history of the De Havilland Beaver Seaplane and is a mix of actual seaplane parts, wood, concrete and metal.  The walls have photography and art detailing the history of Seaplanes on Lake Union.

Bar Charlie was created by Christian Thomason with mentoring and construction assistance from Chris Navarra.

Bar Charlie evolved out of the desire to do something more than tackle an endless mountain of bureaucratic paperwork.  It’s intended to be a neighborhood gathering spot, a place to unwind with good drinks and food.

QUIZ RECAP

It was a quiet and tense night of Trivia this week. I could tell the teams were concentrating on the questions, and thinking thoroughly about their answers.

Round 1 started us off with some General Knowledge, with Riff Raff jumping right in to score 8 points, answering all correct answers, and scoring 2 bonus points for having their team registered at KingTrivia.com

The Picture Round this week must have been too easy, because ALL 5 teams went double-or-nothing and ALL 5 teams got them all correct! Great job knowing your birds and pro sports teams! Extra points went to our newest team The Minor Heckups who went on to register their team as well - don't want to miss out on free points!

Keeping the scores very close, we moved into Round 3 to Drop It Like It's Hot. I had to be a stickler on this round's question 4, where a lot of teams guessed "Mic Drop", but the actual answer turned out to be "Drop the Mic." I have to commend you all for being very close, though!

Round 4 had us Guessing Who? This one was quite a toss up, where Team 5-1-0 jumped into the lead with their correct answer right off the first clue! The Minor Heckups were not far behind on the second clue. However, it was Risk it for the Biscuit, who unfortunately guessed wrong, but that gave N.A.* a chance to catch back up.

It then became a battle between the top 3 teams and the bottom 2 from here on out. In Round 5, it turned out finding the connection was the easiest part. It was the other 9 questions that all the teams struggled to find. Such quiet was never before heard at Bar Charlie, as when the teams were working on the answers to Round 5. There was something for everyone on this round, though, as I saw at least one face light up with the right answer on all of the questions, and at least one face staring blankly back at me with confusion. Eventually they had to turn in their answers, doing the best they could with their collective brain smarts on each team.

That moved us right along to Round 6, the Matching round, where we focused on the 2019 version of the Lion King.

Then, from a movie I haven't seen (2019 Lion King), to a game I've never played (Risk), it's a good thing I know how to read 🙂 Round 7 asked for the 9 North American Territories on a standard Risk game board, and since it was the Final Round of the night, Risk it for the Biscuit had to live up to their name, in the battle for last place! Luckily for N.A.*, it didn't pay off. Meanwhile, in the fight for first, Riff Raff pushed ahead with 8 points in the final round.

At the end of the night, we had Riff Raff take home 1st, Team 5-1-0 in 2nd, and our new team The Minor Heckups in 3rd. Good game also to N.A.* and Risk it for the Biscuit. You guys are all awesome!

Thank you so much for coming out! See you next Tuesday!
