About Bar Charlie

Bar Charlie landed in the North Lake Union neighborhood of Seattle in December 2016. Bar Charlie aims to be a comfortable neighborhood bar featuring beers, food and spirits crafted in the greater Pacific Northwest.

Bar Charlie's interior concept is inspired by the history of the De Havilland Beaver Seaplane and is a mix of actual seaplane parts, wood, concrete and metal.  The walls have photography and art detailing the history of Seaplanes on Lake Union.

Bar Charlie was created by Christian Thomason with mentoring and construction assistance from Chris Navarra.

Bar Charlie evolved out of the desire to do something more than tackle an endless mountain of bureaucratic paperwork.  It’s intended to be a neighborhood gathering spot, a place to unwind with good drinks and food.

Amidst the COVID-19 panic, we still had a full house for Trivia this week. Thankfully, Bar Charlie does a great job keeping the bar clean, and had plenty of hand sanitizer and Lysol wipes available.

It was a strong start for almost all of the teams, except for Yo Yo Ma's Cousins, who were just lucky to get on the board in the first round.

In round 2, the picture round had a fun theme with elemental names, and although some of the pictures were hard to decipher, I always enjoy the answers you guys come up with when you have no idea. Nickelback was a good guess on #4, which was a picture of Neon Trees, but my favorite answer this round was James Beryllium - I want to meet that guy!

The theme round this week all related to love or mining, which must just be a tough theme for this crowd, we didn't have too many points scored in round 3 this week. The highest score of the round was 3 points, if that tells you anything about the caliber of questions asked 🙂

But round 4, well, let's just say, we had a net of 2 points total scored in the Guess Who, with six teams turning in a wrong answer, and only two teams guessed correctly, but not until the 4-point clue. This was when The Shit started to prove their name, and Culture Crew started to climb up in the rankings.

Our Find the Connection round was where Old Man & The Kids and OG Covid really jumped to the top by doubling down on their 10 correct answers, and making up for the loss of a point in the last round. Unfortunately, Stable Geniuses/ Dept. of Interior were 1 correct answer away from that same double, and dropped them down out of the top three.

The team asking Is THIS Quarantine? was stuck in the middle of the pack all night, but luckily this Bar Charlie quarantine has plenty of drinks and laughter to keep our spirits up.

The final round's question this week pertained to the last 10 NFL #1 draft picks, which could have bumped COVID/Meteor 2020 into the top spot if they had gotten all the answers right with their check in that double-or-nothing box. It's a good strategy in the last round, but this time, it didn't pan out for these guys, but we still had fun, and they had a cute little dog with them to soften the blow.

Final scores brought Old Man & The Kids into 1st place, OG Covid in 2nd, and The Shit in 3rd.

Thank you all for coming out, hope to see you again next week!
