After Labor Day, the tourist heavy Santa Monica Promenade has cleared out considerably. But that didn't stop our devoted regulars from angling to win the highest of high honors: the number one spot on this weekly recap board. Oh, and the gift card. Definitely the gift card.

With summer in the rearview mirror, our teams raced ahead to try and recapture the last gleaming moments of sun-soaked victory. After three rounds, our top three finishers were neck and neck. A few well placed doubles launched Beyonce ahead while derailing Secular but Full Loftus continued at a steady cruising speed and sailed right past their competitors in the final laps. Not even a double in the final round could have saved Beyonce as they succumbed to second place, resilient but determined. Secular, having stalled out in Round 5, accepted their place as third while Loftus, playing confidently all night, secured the number one spot with a short but polite round of applause - for themselves.

We'll see what happens next week after our competitors have been refueled, reenergized and rejuvenated - ready to take on the mantle of King all over again.
