It's midterm week here in Westwood... While that may have put UCLA's campus on notice -- it didn't detract from good, old-fashioned competition at Barney's Beanery. What looked like a open and shut competition, as Heavy Lumber opened up with 3 straight successful double or nothing rounds to take a commanding early leaded, ended with 2 players from 2 teams taking a guess at our winter olympic themed tie-breaker question: how much the movie Miracle grossed at the U.S. box office. By coming within 10 million, Heavy Lumber held strong -- sending Lonzo's Balls into second place.
Equally impressive was the work by Marshall Faulk's Texts- no, not those ones -- the team Marshall Faulk's Texts who, after finding themselves a ways back of the money most of the game, used their knowledge of celebrity horses and the winter olympics (not at the same time) to power their way into third with a game leading 27 points in the final 2 rounds...
Over 20 teams braved procrastination and below an A- on their Biology exam in order to get a chance at the rich $100 Barney's Beanery Bucks prize...
See ya'll next Wednesday...
