QUIZ RECAP

When I walked into Bread and Barley you could feel the anticipation in the air. It had been a long time since a trivia competition had been held in these doors, and the patrons were eager to compete and win.

There was, however, one person who was not necessarily eager about the trivia. In fact they didn't even know it was happening. When I initially offered the opportunity to play, I could sense they were skeptical, but ultimately they decided to join. Naturally, I felt bad for pushing them to join when they got off to a rocky start, but then gradually, round by round I watched this team of one person rise and rise until after round 5 when this person won the drinking round and earned a free drink. This alcoholic boost must have been exactly what they needed because they were then able to skyrocket to second place and win a gift card! My second place winner came up to me after the game and said, "Wow, that was so fun and so unexpected." I live for underdog stories like this of team Something Clever.

Another underdog story worth mentioning is that of David who won third place as a party of one. Also, less of an underdog story and more of an impressive display of trivia wit and knowledge we had the Stay at Homies win first place.

Hopefully team Something Clever will be back next week after the surprise win, and maybe this underdog can claim first prize now that they know the routine. If they do, I will be rooting for them!
