Charlie's Stars and Stripes is a fun and beautiful place in lovely downtown Upland. It's been awhile since I've been to Upland, I forgot how great this town is! Everyone is so nice and the crowd was lively and ready to show their serious smarts!
Why Do You Ask, Two Dogs? started out the night with a perfect score of 6, putting them in a one point lead ahead of Fontana Knowledge and Only One of us Pooped our Pants Today, who were neck and neck the first two rounds. However, 2 Dogs jumped way ahead in round 2 with a successful double down (wow, that's a lot of 2s) which opened them up with a lead they just never lost. After that it was just about who was going to finish second (another 2!), and that was anybody's game.
Round 3 had a three way tie of 4s, then round 4 had some fantastic guessers for the Who, with 3 teams getting the 6 point clue and 2 Dogs getting the 8. I couldn't have gotten it, but that's why I only ask the questions. Those Guys fought hard with consistent scores, and Fontana Knowledge, who have been winners more than once, had some struggles, but came back at the end with some high scores, just not quite high enough. They usually win the drinking round with their super aerodynamic paper airplanes, but Those Guys managed to send theirs an impressive 25-ish feet, making them the winners. they seemed like they'd had a few already, but rules are rules, drink up guys!
Every round had at least one tie, and round 6 had another successful double down by 2 Dogs, solidifying their lead. Big Group of Small Brains were super smart and were a heck of a threat. But then they doubled down in 6 themselves, and devastatingly had one answer wrong, garnering them a tragic zero instead of a 20. That's why it's called double or nothing, and that's why it's a gamble, folks! They would've ended up second, but that 0 edged them out of the prize running. And then round 7, and boom! Only One of Us Pooped dropped a bomb, but it wasn't a stinky one! They doubled down and were the only ones to get all the answers in the round, to get an 18! Most everyone did well in that round as it was all about the board game Clue, and who doesn't love that? But the Poopers made the best one, er, two (I'm so confused), and kicked poopy butt to make a solid Number Two! As in second place to the other Number Two, the Number One 2 Dogs! So the two twos finished with a one and a two as the 2 Dogs won and the Poopers came in second! Say that 5 times fast!
Thanks for a great night, all, you were definitely NOT party poopers, and you're all Number One two me! Er, TO me!
