QUIZ RECAP

King Trivia made its triumphant return to Longmont tonight, which is to say tonight I had the privilege of hosting the 1st trivia night at Collision Brewing. Two teams of my old regulars from the LPH were there, along with first-timers "Our Drinking Team Has A Trivia Problem". #momjeans picked up where they left off when last I saw them, hitting on a double-or-nothing in Round 1, and never led by fewer than 6 points all night as the game quickly became a battle for 2nd place. Fortunately 3 teams meant that every team would win a prize, and Brown Chicken, Brown Cow and "Trivia Problem" were neck-and-neck all evening. Brown Chicken..., down 6-4 after the 1st round, gained a point back in Round 3, moved ahead 22-19 after 4 rounds and led 29-28 after Round 5. Round 6, the handout round, produced an unusual result: all 3 teams got only 1 answer right, and it was the same one. Dirk Nowitzki has been with the Mavericks so long that even the (apparent) non-sports fans in the room knew that answer. #momjeans entered Round 7 with an insurmountable lead and scored 4 on the Pi question; Brown Chicken scored only 2 and were destined to be passed as "Trivia Problem" (a team of engineers) hit on the double to zoom up to 49 points, still 7 shy of the winners. But as I said, everyone was a winner tonight.

A word on the new venue: we have our own room at Collision, which means that we don't have to compete with the noise from the dining and bar areas, and people who come for dinner aren't disturbed by our contest. The staff are super-friendly and helpful (our awesome server Jason came over from LPH) and Eric, the owner, was attentive and committed to ensuring a good time for everyone. It was a great first night, looking forward to doing it again next week!
