QUIZ RECAP
It was another full house tonight at Collision Brewing, with fully 8 teams and 33 players on a blindingly sunny night at Collision (check the pictures). In fact one team left just before we started or we would have been at overflow....and all that without #momjeans!
Gold VS. Gold, Butterbeer Beaches and Trebek's Rejects all jumped out quickly by successfully converting double-or-nothing tries, but those 3 teams spent the rest of the night vying for 2nd place as F Words for $500 hit a double in Round 2 and never trailed after that, playing a steady and consistent game to finish in the winner's circle after being nosed out in the tiebreaker round last week (to claim $30 in Collision gift cards and a 6-pak of Panzer lager). (F Words have threatened to quit while they're ahead but I have a feeling they'll be back) F Words, Gold and Butterbeer were the only teams to turn in an answer in the Guess Where round (each scoring 6) and Trebek's Rejects seemed to drop out of the race until they scored 18 of a possible 20 in rounds 5 & 6 to make the race for 2nd a 3-team affair. Butterbeer Beaches moved into 2nd after Round 6 but Gold Vs. Gold outscored Butterbeer and Trebek's Rejects 7-4 in Round 7 to take 2nd place (6 points behind the winners) for $20; Butterbeer Beaches held on for 3rd and $10.
Each of the newbie teams had its moments, including Wayfarers scoring 8 of a possible 10 in Round 6 while The Valley Girls scored 6 points 3 different times. Biohazard, God love them, hung in to the end, had a 5 in Round 2 and a great time all night. It must be said that tonight's question set was the most difficult in memory, stumping the players several times; kudos to the KT team! Also, I had the pleasure of showing the ropes to a new King Trivia Quizmaster tonight; Devin will soon be running the show at the newest KT location in Commerce City. Judging by my interactions with him, the patrons there are in for a good time.
There will be no show next week as the 4th of July falls on a Thursday, but I will see you all back at Collision in 2 weeks, on 7/11. Happy 4th, everyone!
