QUIZ RECAP

Another stellar night at Idle Hour! This was one for the record books, with 25 teams bringing their trivia knowledge into the gridiron for seven rounds of quiztastic action. While we had some controversy, some harsh words, and maybe even a spilled drink or two, we also had a great game with some passionate and wonderful teams.

Basically, if you weren't there, you done messed up.

As per usual, the early rounds allowed our newer teams time to stretch their legs and get to work. Veteran groups dropped doubles like it was nothing, leading to a pretty stark score split by the time we reached the Drinking Round. League legends the High Tops came to play, and they were giving everyone some serious competition.

Since it was National Irish Cream Coffee Day, our Drinking Round asked the teams what year was the famous drink first served (officially) in the US. The answer (1952) led to a tie-breaker showdown where the Witches of HWood earned free shots for their table!

Now in the final stretch, we came upon some controversy! A strangely-worded question threw a few players, leading to a bit of a points curfuffle. Fortunately, this QM was able to do the mental math (and verbal gymnastics) to clarify the scores where they were needed. Still, we had a real race on our hands moving into the final round.

[Quick note from the QM: While some teams were awarded points after the question was amended, the top six teams for the night were unaffected by the change in points. In the future, we will be a bit stricter on wording, so be prepared! As always, we appreciate your passion greatly.]

Our final round was a real brain twister. Who did Rolling Stones Magazine twice list as the top ten artists in the world? As it turns out, our teams were better at choosing top tier talent than the magazine editors, but that's not how the question was worded. In a suprising upset, Bing Bong Babies rocked that round an catapulted into the lead!

Our final score had Bing Bong Babies on top, High Tops crushing it at second, and His Name Was Robert Paulson in third.
