Holy moly! What a great night with a fabulous group of teams to kick off King Trivia at the Lumber Yard!
With questions ranging across pop culture, geography, sports, and even math, this was a night in which every team member would be needed to pull from the depths of their trivia knowledge to get through the rounds and rack up the points.
In Round 1, no team was able to pull together all six answers. Lime Skittles set the pace with five correct and most others started the night off with three points.
Round 2 continued to put the teams to the test. Again, no perfect scores and no team dared to yet test their double-or-nothing luck.
In Round 3, Hot Pockets caught up the score leaders by being the only team who knew the name of one of the Dungeons & Dragons co-creators!
By Round 4, the tables started to turn for our early points leaders. Flag Hags took a big risk in the hopes of big reward by submitting their answer after just one clue - and it worked! They netted 10 points for the round! Bend Over, Stay Down waited for one more clue before submitting for 8 points, and that was enough to put them in the lead, for the time being.
Over the half-way point of the game, Round 5 continued to push teams to stretch their trivia muscles. While Purty Mouth and Hot Pockets were the only ones who knew Ray Bradbury's lesser known works, Lime Skittles was still able to pull ahead again with knowledge of the Beatles' extensive song catalog.
Not until Round 6 did we see anyone test their luck (and trivia skills) by trying to double-down on the possible points. Flag Hags, hoping to take the lead, missed one of the 10 answers, earning them 0 points for the round. At the next table, Bend Over, Stay Down celebrated their perfect round, earning the full 10 points and setting the game up for a super close final round.
Teams entered the final round knowing any mistakes could possibly mean the difference between reaching the podium (so to speak) or having to wait another week for trivia glory. With that in mind, three teams went all-in, checking the box to go double-or-nothing on the round. And it worked, for some. Lime Skittles snagged a total of 18 points and that, plus their 2 bonus points for registering their team name, launched them to 1st place!
Double-or-nothing also helped propel Flag Hags into 2nd place, with Hot Pockets finishing the night in 3rd.
It was truly a fantastic kick off of King Trivia at the Lumber Yard! Thanks to everyone who made it such a fun night! See you again next week - same time, same place!
