Two teams that I've never seen at Malarkey's, the Fighting Banana Slugs and Get Your Tits Up, took first and second place tonight. A pretty good showing for both first-timers (but don't think for a second it was their first night of bar trivia, both teams are very experienced). Another anomaly, their team sizes. The winners, the Banana Slugs, are only three people (one male, two females). Stranger still, Get Your Tits Up is just TWO people (one of each). An astounding fact since the Malarkey's regulars are 8 teams averaging 6-7 people each! And one of those teams (I won't say who...Albatross) usually play with 8-10 highly educated, seasoned trivia buffs. Just goes to show ya, in spite of the conventional wisdom, there's a lot more to this game than just how many people you have on your team.
Our Drinking Round winners were Long Beach/Seal Beach, who came the closest to guessing how long the Mississippi River is (2,390 miles).
CONGRATULATIONS to the Fighting Banana Slugs! I know I differ with all the other teams who regularly play at Malarkey's when I say...I hope to see you next week!
