QUIZ RECAP

Welcome one and all to the very first King Trivia night here at New Glory Craft Brewery! I'm very excited to be hosting the first event here, and a new group of what i'm sure will turn into nothing but familiar faces. It was great to see one familiar face; that of Joshua Kress and his team, Cobra Kai squaring off against the new Dream team. It was tie for most of the first few rounds, but the dream team found their stride and swept the leg of Cobra Kai and took home the prize of first place. Is there a team that can take down dream team next week, or will this duo become long reigning champs here at New Glory? Join us next week!

*******************Fun Trivia Fact of the Week*********************

There was a question in round one about the oldest signer of the Declaration of Independence, but some men even went back on their decision to sign. Nicholas Cage said it best in National Treasure "A toast to high treason. That's what these men did in signing the declaration." It was a revolution from the grip of Great Britain that lead to years of war and a struggle to secure a fledgling nation. Some signers ever went so far as to recant their signature. Namely, Richard Stockton, who in the wake of the Stamp Act debacle, chose to cast aside his allegiance to British Rule and represent New Jersey in Congress. He was later captured and imprisoned under General Cornwallis in a New York prison where he was subjected to extreme temperatures and starvation for five weeks before he accepted a plea deal of an oath of allegiance to Great Britain in exchange for freedom. Unfortunately, Cornwallis was using Stockton's estate as a headquarters and decided that when he vacated he burned the furniture and library. Cornwallis went down in American history as a traitor to the Declaration and had to recover from his penniless state following his release. He survived, but he paid for it. He left Congress in 1777.
