About Petoskey's
Welcome to Petoskey’s in Fremont.  Seattle’s only Midwest Bar and Restaurant.  From the people behind Zayda Buddy’s and Pomerol, Petoskey’s serves real Midwest Comfort Food in a super comfortable environment.  Wood fired Minnesota Style Pizza, excellent hot dishes, deep-fried Wisconsin cheese curds, Walleye fish basket, bouja, and more great stuff.

Petoskey’s features an excellent selection of beers and cocktails. Definitely try our Bloody Mary on weekends when we will feature all the Big Ten College games and of course the NFL’s NFC North Division on Sundays.  Petoskey’s is home to the Vikings and the Lions as an ode to Mike Petoskey’s heritage (We think he leaned more purple and gold, but that has long been debated over many Grain Belts and Stroh’s). Of note: The Vikings did tame the Lions during the Vikings era (793-1066).  We do have that Midwest Nice in us, so all you Midwest folk can come and feel welcome to watch your Packers and Bears too.  Seahawks games will also be featured.  NHL and MLB games from all Midwest teams will be televised.

Come on in and feel happy.  We welcome all who want a good meal and a nice beer or cocktail.  Petoskey’s food and drinks are made by friendly cooks and served by friendly bartenders and servers.  That’s what we do dontcha know.

QUIZ RECAP

You know, sometimes the summer weather is nice, and other times it's so hot that it becomes unbearable. We've had a bit of both over the last week, but that didn't stop a bevy of teams from coming on down to Petoskey's this last Tuesday. We had six teams of competitors join us: Geddy Images, Long Live Legolas' Legs+Ass, Don's Lil Angels, The Librarians, Hookers with a runny nose, and Pizza+Beer+Bacon.

Round 1 began with our General Knowledge round where we sample questions from a variety of categories such as history ("What state is home to the Harry S. Truman Reservoir? Missouri") or pop culture ("What actress re-teams with her Thor: Ragnarok co-star in Men in Black: International? Tessa Thompson"). It amused me that despite being in a bar with all the bottles available to you to see, nobody was able to identify Smirnoff as the vodka brand founded in Moscow in 1864.

Picture Round 2 was a pretty straightforward color-combo affair. We put up a series of eight purple colored characters and asked teams to identify them by name. Sure, you may easily know Grimace and Ursula down pat, but what about Tinky Winky and Sailor Saturn? Franchise is easy, names not so much.

Theme Round 3 was all about bologna. Specifically, all our questions and answers had to do with "oscar" or "meyer"; tee hee, get it? For an example, take our cult classic question about identifying what G.O.B's name stands for in Arrested Development (George Oscar Bluth). Of course not every question was so desirable to actually know the answer, but unfortunately I couldn't award you a point for not knowing that Dakota Meyer was divorced by Bristol Palin this year.

Before we head into the Guess Who? Round let's get a quick score recap. Tied for first with 15 points each was Pizza+Beer+Bacon and Don's Lil Angels. Second place was a tie at 14 points between Geddy Images and Long Live Legolas' Legs+Ass. Third place belonged to The Librarians at 13 points, while fourth was taken by Hookers with a runny nose with 9 points.

Unfortunately our Guess Who? Round this week was extremely easy to guess. The 10-point clue revealed, in part, that the character was married to a prostitute that their brother paid for. Everyone quickly identified Tyrion Lannister without issue, which didn't surprise me because when I tested the question on my mother even she was able to guess who it was on the 10-pointer.

Find the Connection Round 5 was equally easy for our teams to get through as they put up a collective accuracy of 80%. The only questions that threw off our teams were the common party supply invented by Faraday's experiments with gasses, but I think teams overthought themselves into a mistake by assuming it couldn't be the obvious balloons.

Handout Round 6 rewarded those among us who still follow the rituals associated with the old medias. Teams had to match child protagonists with the authors who created them. So if I gave you Jo March you would match that with Louisa May Alcott (Little Women). And in no surprise Seattle has a lot of book readers so I'm pleased to announce that three teams successfully pulled off a Double or Nothing.

This shook up the standings moving into our Final Round so let's take a look. First place was held by Don's Lil Angels at 53 points, second place was Geddy Images at 52 points, third place was The Librarians at 51 points, Pizza+Beer+Bacon was in fourth at 43 points, fifth place was Long Live Legolas' Legs+Ass at 40 points, sixth place was Hookers with a runny nose at 25 points.

Our Final Round prompt seemed simple on first glance, but it led four teams of our teams to confidently go for another Double or Nothing only to fall short by just one incorrect answer. The prompt was:

What are 10 of the 14 countries that have been to five consecutive FIFA World Cups?

For those teams that closely follow soccer, their expertise would turn out to be their downfall as although the Netherlands is indeed a skilled and capable team, they have not been to five consecutive World Cups. This meant that it was those teams who lacked confidence in their soccer knowledge that ended up on top (Geddy Images and Don's Lil Angels), as everyone else ended up with zero for this round.

The Final Standings can be seen below. Congratulations to all our competitors and we hope to see you back again soon.
