QUIZ RECAP

This was an absolute barn-burner! Six teams entered, scores were had, and a three-way-tie was settled. Just another night at Rasselbock? Anything but.

The evening started as per usual, with teams throwing out a scattering of answers to the softball opening questions. Things heated up fast with some fairly difficult pictures and themes, leaving most of the teams scrambling to break double digits. Heroes of Canton held an early lead that seemed insurmountable.

Something changed after the Appetizer Round. Since it was National Granola Bar day, we had the teams come up with a clever pick-up line that somehow used the healthy(?) treat.

The winners, Lucky Krauts, introduced us to: "Buy me a drink and I'll show you my Nature's Valley (TM)."

Suddenly, the entire mood of the room shifted. Veteran team Leche del Padre seemed to step outside of themselves and enter a Nirvana of Trivia. They'd been around for months, always taking fourth or fifth to the larger teams.

Not tonight, they said.

In Round 6, they managed to jump ahead of their competition and into 2nd place, putting the other teams on their heels. They followed with another six points, bringing their score to 37.

But the Heroes of Canton also landed on 37. As did newcomers Nicola's Groomsmen.

We had a 3-way split for the entire leaderboard!

It came down to a little Twinkie knowledge. With the tie-breaker--and all the marbles--on the line, Leche laid down a guess that was only 20 points away from the actual answer. Since we go by Price is Right rules, they took the top spot!
