QUIZ RECAP
The Lion & Crown in Allen was on fire last night as eleven teams converged for our Thursday ritual.
It was like old home week, too. The return of some old friends we haven't seen in a while sparked
fond memories and brought out the reunion spirit in all of us.
First of all, a big welcome back to the Ninja Turtles. That team has been gone for over a month
and it was evident why as Alex and Maggie proudly displayed their newest teammate. Welcome to
the wonderful world of Trivia, little Luke! Another team we haven't seen in some time showed as
well. The Footclan! So guess what? The big battle was between these two titans. NT's
grabbed the lead in Round Four, but Footclan stole it in Round Seven with a precision Double-or-
Nothing at the last second. Exciting. Classic. Apropos. For those whose beliefs tend towards
predestiny, the alignment of having Round Six be about matching video game characters to their
weapon of choice should have hit them like a nunchuk. This irony was certainly not lost on Quiz
Master Lou.
We also welcome back team Pilarinsky. They came, they saw, they did not conquer, unfortunately.
We enjoyed their presence nonetheless. A shout out to newbie team Fashionably Late, who traipsed
in just as Quiz Master Lou started Round One. More cosmic coinkydink. Welcome back to the Smart
Asses, who are shaping up to be trivia contenders.
In celebration of our Round Seven subject matter, the state of Missouri, Quiz Master Lou told a
joke about a Texas rancher and a Missouri farmer. The Texan boasted that he could get in his
truck and drive all day without ever crossing his ranch's boundary. The MO farmer replied, "Yeah,
I had a truck like that, once." By the way, QM Lou's joke fell so flat he thought someone had
died. In fact, all of QM Lou's jokes bite the dust last night to the point that QM Lou threatened
to stop telling jokes, to which some wag said, "Maybe you should start!"
Oh well, have a great weekend, everybody!
