QUIZ RECAP

What do you get when you cross Lassie with a cantaloupe? A Melon-Collie baby!
Bad jokes aside, there are times when splitting dog hairs teeters on being
either beneficial or detrimental. Was Lassie a Border Collie? No. She was
a Rough Collie. So the question, "What Border Collie has a star on the
Hollywood Walk of Fame?" is incorrect. Nevertheless, nine out of eleven
teams guessed Lassie was the correct answer. Because there are only three
dogs on the Hollywood Walk of Fame; Strong Heart, Rin Tin Tin and Lassie.
Two are German Shepherds. So whether Lassie is a Rough Collie or a Border
Collie is irrelevant. Collie is the operative word in this case. Therefore,
challenging the Quiz Master about the propriety of the question is pointless,
time consuming and inciteful. To complain about it in a passing comment is
okay. To continue to harp on it afterwards is unacceptable. No appropriate
action can be taken. Move along, please.
Now that Quiz Master Lou's rant is out of the way, our quiz at the Lion &
Crown was pretty good. The competition was strong (scores were high), the
questions were tough enough to keep the Double-or-Nothing's down to a
minimum (amongst the cooler headed, anyway) and the border collies kept
the sheep away from the cheese (I don't know what that means but it sounds
funny).
Newbie team, The Brother's Jon, opted out early though they did earn their
two point bonus for registering. IFFY! and Ship It!, undermanned, were
undeterred. Smart Asses and Street Smarts hustled with the best of them while
Hilltoppers and Stealth Texas kept each other warm just outside the winner's
circle. Resident champs Ninja Turtles (Perhaps aided by a pillow version
of Raphael?) took first. Beer Logic took second (without pretzels) and
Binge Thinking got third.
Have a wonderful weekend everybody!
