The Lion & Crown Pub, an English-style pub with a large and varied menu, is open seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. serving lunch, dinner and daily specials. The pub also offers a wide selection of fine wines and 38 beers on tap. Guests can watch sporting events on one of the many large TV screens or enjoy a nice night out on the patio. Different drink specials are available every day and live music on Friday and Saturday.
Anomaly is defined as an irregularity or disproportion. A deviation from the
norm. Quiz Master Lou believes that best describes the conditions of KTPQ as
it transpired last night at the Lion & Crown Public House in Allen. To begin
with, there were no newbie teams playing. There were some strangers, a group
of kids who came over from the sister L&C pub over in Addison who styled
themselves We Did Not Decide Yet, but from the size of their team number it was
obvious they had played before.
Then came the Picture Round fumbles, Corsets and Wigs. As many people mistook
Sally Field for Queen Victoria as they did for Mary Todd Lincoln while Colette
got the most (and funniest) wrong guesses with Mary Poppius Returns, Victor-
Victoria and Back to the Future 3! But the biggest anomaly of the evening
came in Round Three, when question 6 posited, "What NBA mascot had a film
appearance during the end credits of Rocky Balboa?" Well, Phillie Phanatic,
who does appear and is the answer is a MLB mascot, not a basketball one. This
prompted a first in Quiz Master Lou's career. All Round 3 ballots were handed
back to their teams for an alternate question! Such was the furor. Finally,
slipping a battle from Game of Thrones into Round Six is like including King
Lear in Shakespeare's Histories. Big anomaly, there! I guess that's why one
team offered these answers...
