QUIZ RECAP
It was a happy Halloween King Trivia Pub Quiz on the actual day, fellow trick
or treaters, at the Lion & Crown! Unfortunately for Quiz Master Lou, a malicious
prankster calling itself Quiz Master Lucifer waylaid me and took over the show!
This dandy diablo indulged delightfully in daunting dilemmas, dazzling the crowd
at the old L&C. I heard he pulled the rug out from under the faithful by sub-
stituting the Thursday FaceBook question with an alternate. (Gasp!) That's
dreadfully diabolical! The dastardly devil!
Enough alliteration, on with the dispatch... Things decidedly were working in
this demon's favor because there were seven teams playing. You know seven is a
mystical number, right? Seven Deadly Sins... Seven days to create the world...
Seven Brides for Seven Brothers... (Bedazzled - 1967) In any case, all questions
referenced things Halloweeny and there were no hollow weenies present. The Round
Four Guess Where round proved a little too easy. Eveie of the Ninja Turtles
happens to be Scottish and everyone in the pub knew it. When she ran up on stage
squealing with delight, they all put two and two together and all seven teams
guessed Loch Ness and got the ten pointer!
Street Smarts dominated around Round Five and poured salt into everyone else's
wounds by getting 9 out of 10 candy bars correct in the Round Seven challenge.
Ninja Turtles, dressed appropriately, got second while Stealth Texas zombied
into a third place win. Thanks to Sean for reviving team Bar Guy for a night
and Beer Logic and IPMP and of course, the deadly alliance of Blood, Bath &
Beyond/Ship It! for un-evening out the evening.
And now, like Fantasia's end sequence, as the eve of all saints and the final
strains of Mussorgsky's Night on Bald Mountain fade artfully into the morning
light of hope and Schubert's Ave Maria Opus 52 and No. 6, Quiz Master Lucifer
folds himself up, cocoon like, and puts himself away... Until next year...
Hmmm... I think I'll be a pirate next Halloween.
