The Lion & Crown Pub, an English-style pub with a large and varied menu, is open seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. serving lunch, dinner and daily specials. The pub also offers a wide selection of fine wines and 38 beers on tap. Guests can watch sporting events on one of the many large TV screens or enjoy a nice night out on the patio. Different drink specials are available every day and live music on Friday and Saturday.
Wow! And welcome back. It's been a long, strange road. But
King Trivia Pub Quiz is back in action at the Lion & Crown in
Allen! Last night's quiz was a somewhat sedate affair, with a
smattering of contestants easing back into their 'new' normal.
Disparate elements of teams IFFY! and Deadly Alliance banned
together under Ship It!'s banner while Bar Guy's flag flew for
new comer Dale. Getting back into the swing of things was a
challenge for both Quiz Master Lou and the players as we struggled
with both rust and technology. KTPQ's got a new scoring system
called "Contactless", created to combat Covid. Alliteration
aside, designated team members must type answers into their
smart phones and the answers magically appear on QM Lou's hand
held... Or not. After some trial and error (Thank you Ashley,
for your tech support!), we actually got the bots to work for
us and the quiz was had!
Some nice questions from our quiz writers. QM Lou especially
liked the TV Sci-Fi set for our Round Six hand out. Old enough
to remember the original Twilight Zone's episode of The Masks,
the irony was not lost on this quiz master, who noted some new
faces at the pub, albeit covered with masks.
Life is strange, but it still goes on. And so does the Quiz!
