QUIZ RECAP

Once again this Thursday at the Lion & Crown in Allen proved that 

King Trivia Pub Quiz draws them in.  With what at first appeared 

to be a sparse gathering turned into a fairly boisterous crowd 

all brimming with enthusiasm for "the Quiz". 

Two newbie teams joined the fray.  A large table of excitables 

who styled themselves The Leftovers had obviously gathered for 

some sort of group function but now that dinner was done, a quiz 

seemed to be the next logical step.  A happy duo paying hommage 

to a particular Tampa Bay Buccaneer decided on Gronk ow ow Ski! 

Regulars Pickles on a Plate, Velvet Hammered, Dallas Boolers Club 

and Ship It! kept things real.  This gathering of Quizzicles 

dominated the pub. 

Velvet Hammered, the man from Metaluna, managed the winner's 

circle once again with a third place win.  The Boolers pooled 

their resources into second place; Yet, it was Ship It! who 

scored the top prize with a strategic Double-or-Nothing on the 

Hand-Out Round and a 90% on the Round Seven challenge.  Team 

Captain Billy was indefatigable being both a sports knowledge 

master and a whiz at baking!  (R7 required naming the ten 

ingredients in Betty Crocker's Ultimate Chocolate Chip Cookies 

recipe.)  

The evening's best wrong guess came from trying to name the 

Roman version of the Greek goddess Athena.  Some wag at a loss 

tumbled to proffer Zena.  (From Warrior Princess to Goddess?) 

That's not all I've got, but column space and better judgement 

prevail.  Have a great weekend everybody!
