The Lion & Crown Pub, an English-style pub with a large and varied menu, is open seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. serving lunch, dinner and daily specials. The pub also offers a wide selection of fine wines and 38 beers on tap. Guests can watch sporting events on one of the many large TV screens or enjoy a nice night out on the patio. Different drink specials are available every day and live music on Friday and Saturday.
Hello once again KTPQ fans at the Lion & Crown! There we were
on a Thursday night and the heavenly seven came to play. I'm
referring of course to our trivia teams, five of whom are regs
and two newbies. Sean showed up and played under the banner of
Bar Guy, our special reserve team. Matt reappeared after a three
week absence deciding it was time to get Velvet Hammered again.
Loyal stalwarts Deadly Alliance, Pickles on a Plate and Rockerfellers
shored up or ranks. A big L&C welcome to newcomers Fried Pickles
(What is it about pickles that lends itself to team names? Umm...
best not answer that.) Also welcome to Baby Pigeons. That's their
team name. We did not have actual baby pigeons in the pub.
Scores were tight all night with Bar Guy starting to lead, then
falling back into a tight three way tie twixt he, Deadly Alliance
and Velvet Hammered. In the end, it was third time that a three
way Tie Breaker was called, this one the second consecutive one
in as many weeks. Strange, circumstantial forces beyond ordinary
human keen are obviously at work and their focus is on us! For
the record, VH got 1st, DA took 2nd and BG got 3rd.
The questions were as esoteric as our rankings were weird. Identifying
Fictional Reptiles for the Picture Round demonstrated more than a few
folks knew the exact names of the Teenaged Mutant Ninja Turtles!
One of our quiz writers is an equestrian (or wants to be) with what
was certainly the most specialized terms for parts of a horse in our
Theme Round. And to top it off, the late, scourge-of-liberty U.S. Atty
Gen Janet Reno was the subject of our Guess Who Round. (She shoulda
stuck to chemistry!)
