One fateful day three decades ago, five boys picked up a game of handball during school recess on a Fountain Valley playground. They grew up together, became life-long friends and pursued their own ambitions. But they shared a deep love for their hometown and dreamed of one day opening a restaurant together where they could share good food, good drinks and reminisce about good times. The Recess Room is their childhood dream come to life.

Your Quizmaster was so happy to be in the back room with all you lovely people -- especially since she forgot to bring a jacket and the temperature outside dipped WAY into the 40s. You all do such a great job of making her feel warm and fuzzy inside. <3

Once again, The Worst was awful at being the worst, as they tied for last place with King Trivia virgins Al-Bren-Zynski, who were insistent they would be the suckiest of all. Both teams stayed neck in neck from Round 2 all the way to the end. There were opportunities to register team names and to turn in pens for an additional bonus point, but I guess both teams (who did have a blast, by the way!) will just have to be awful together.

Daddy Down held a very small lead throughout half the game, thanks to a successful "walking on air" double down. Unfortunately, due to a betrayal by Katharine Hepburn and neglecting to double down on religious texts cost them the lead. The first place winnings (and a free appetizer!) instead went to the calm and collected Implication, who did double down on religious texts, as I'm sure whatever deity they prayed to gave them a helping hand.

Area 51 took home third place, as a warm-up, of course! This won't stop them from kicking ass in the Tournament of Champions! Best of luck to them, Thirsty Pretzels, and Highway Stars/Home Team this weekend! At the end of the day, everyone at the Recess Room is just a big group of weirdos brought together by our love for learning, and we're all rooting for you guys to take home the gold!
