(In my finest John Facenda NFL Films voice) Through the chill of December the early winter moans... but it's that January wind that rattles old bones.
It sure was windy on Sunday night at the frozen tundra of Wilshire Boulevard, at a bar, no, a force of nature, known as Thunderbird.
Sorry, I think the wildcard weekend left me with football on my mind. Eight teams of grass-stained battle-hardened gladiators of trivia competed on the fields of glory. An early double or nothing put the fighting spirit of St Louis Cardinal Rosenberg ahead in the first round, and was the sole 10-point solve for the Guess Who round. But settling in for a long season (and a long name) And the Golden Globe goes to Dan Mitchell otherwise known as the four horsemen of the gridiron... bided their time jumping into the lead with back to back double or nothings on rounds 5 and 6, and never looked back, although a last gasp final round double or nothing by Chicken Tortilla Soup vaulted them into second place (in addition to their drinking round victory, estimating the sum of the heights of the tallest buildings in each continental US timezone), with Cardinal Rosenberg finishing third.
Trivia is a game; not a war. It's for win or lose, not life or death... but say that in the summer, for winter brings the playoffs, and a season is at stake.
