QUIZ RECAP

A beautiful spring night in Oregon is a cause for celebration, and tonight's crowd at Von Ebert's Pizzeria and Taproom on the edge of beautiful Beaverton did not disappoint! An enthusiastic loyal throng of gamers and pleasantly surprised regulars ("there's TRIVIA here? OMG!") coalesced and squared off for a rousing 2 hours of Earth Day themed questions and other brain-busters.

Leading the pack for a good deal of the evening were the ultra-pro Team Belize, who huddled in the middle of the room thinking only of points, points and more...beer! But hot on their heels were the lively group of Uncles wIth Benefits, who ended up trailing Belize's 39 points by a mere 3. Remarkably sharp-witted though all the teams were, the unanimity of everyone getting a question about Duran Duran entirely wrong baffled this host, even though I sang some of the tracks in a fit of nostalgia.

Von Ebert's is a Portland institution, with some of the best brews and amazing food, but their pizza making is confined to one or two restaurants. My experience trying out the pizza for the first time was mind-blowing, and believe me, I should know. Crispy crusts almost like a slice of New York ("we hand-toss every day and make it our own way" should be a motto) with pepperoni that almost melts on the tongue makes me eager to host again. But the happy camaraderie of trivia fans on a Tuesday night is what's gonna keep me coming back many times over.
