Oh what fun we had this balmy Tuesday night as Quizmaster Sanyee subbed in for Maddie (we miss you, Maddie!!!) and unveiled an all-too-enticing glimpse of what Survey Slam is like with the Drinking Round.
It was jaw-droppingly impressive just how Scott's Tots roared far ahead of every other group during the Drinking Round -- their heads combined to obtain the highest points possible with each of the six questions. They were truly unbeatable and now they cannot wait to find a venue to play the full Survey Slam!
Laughs were had throughout the night -- especially as witty teams proposed their own clever quips for Survey Slam and other questions.
Here's a sampling of some of the gut-busting hilarity that colored the (incorrect but highly honorable mention) responses:
Q: Name a horror villain that you think might secretly be good in bed.
"Pennywise."
Q: Name something you can't do for more than five minutes.
"Jump rope."
And two teams both put -- "Stay off phone / check phones."
So, so, so true. Which is the beauty of trivia -- because it brings us all together and gets us to put away our phones for two glorious hours!
Q: What Sony device lost the videotape format war to VHS tapes?
"Stock footage."
(Other than that answer, everyone knew their videotape format wars.)
Q: Be Cool was the 2005 sequel to what John Travolta film?
"Grease 2."
Q: What is the name of the cat in Stephen King's Pet Sematary?
"Sammy." "It." "Snuffles." "Fluffy."
Q: What breed are President Obama's dogs Bo and Sunny?
"Cockapoodle."
Well, that sounds like a cross between a bird and a poodle. Which I guess is fitting with the Pets theme of the round!
Huge shoutout to team Bob who showed up to play at Round 4 and still managed to close the night out on 26 points! And were only one of two teams to know the fictional currency aligned with Star Trek.
However, Ikea Hot Dog could not be beat tonight -- with not one, not two, but THREE successful Double Downs (in Round 2 -- losing Presidential Candidates, Round 3 with the Pets theme, and Round 6 with the fictional currency handout), they ran away with the lead and ended the night on 80 points.
Scott's Tots, who won Third last week, came in Second this week with 45 points -- and Tried and Trivial did a stellar job coming in Third with 44 points.
And a huge shout-out to all of our newcomers who were brand new to King Trivia but totally rocked out -- Cobra Venom, Sisters in Sin, and of course, They Should Turn the Water Pressure in the Bathroom Down. Great job all-around!!!
I can't wait to come back to sub in again next time Maddie needs me -- or also just to come out and play alongside y'all while she's hosting!
Much love and happy Tuesday!

Thank you so much to Maddie for letting me sub in again for the always-lovely 33 Taps!
What a night of fun we had!
We had inanimate objects to name in the Picture Round (which everyone excelled at -- many great Double Downs), a handout of historical moments (which everyone was equally good at but with fewer Double Downs), an NBA Find the Connection (which saw a lot of unsuccessful Double Downs when many guessed Trailblazer and Thunderbird instead of Cavalier for Chevy!!) and an exceptional Video Round saving the best eye-catching trivia for last, with a reel of Ben Stiller clips that everyone insisted on watching twice.
We all did realize that a ton of his films look very, very similar, though! We guess the man does what he does best -- and keeps doing it, churning out the laughs!
After a close head-to-head with San-YAY Samoyed all night, Scott's Tots came out on top for the Drinking Round (guessing just $2 million closer to the IT gross for Chapter 1 and Chapter 2 than my beloved San-YAY see the drinking round is NOT rigged bc my friends did NOT win and yes they did not not win on purpose!) and also swooped into Third Place with just one more point.
Neil Young Thug came in a close second with 78 points and then BoxAngeles.com won the night with 81 points.
But what can I say -- you all played like Champions today! As we all learned is Notre Dame's inspirational motto.
Not Go Irish, Champions @Heart, or Champions are Not Born; They're Made.
Which are all great too.
Y'all are champions for coming out on a Tuesday night to spend your Tuesday with us at 33 Taps Silverlake! Come back next week for more!
Haha and yes all of our pix look extra Halloween-y because Dragula Viewing Party came right after us and had loads of fun 🙂
33 Taps Trivia: A Love Letter
My Dearest 33 Taps,
Thank you so much for the wonderful evening. I felt like a whole new version of myself. Your ample taps gave me so many options, and I love that about you, you support me when I would like a beer, but when I don't want to drink, you have kombucha, coffee and more. How supportive, my love. Your food, as always, was delicious. I will remember my nighttime breakfast burrito whenever I think of you.
And oh, my love, the trivia! Such a fun game that brought people together. This last game was perhaps the most bonding I've seen between teams, and it was delightful. While Ikea Hot Dog, Participation Trophy Wife and Out on a Tuesday were our winners this week (winning gift cards to the magnificent 33 Taps), I feel as though I am the true winner, for experiencing such a night.
I cannot thank you enough.
Love and Trivia,
Your Secret Admirer
