QUIZ RECAP

The sun sank low over Palos Verdes Hill once again at the start of this week's game! Thanks to the time change, the sky was bathed in pink as we gathered for trivia at the brewery. Perhaps it was the later sunlight that brought out the teams -- because eighteen showed up and showed out.

In the end, it was The Test Tickles who took first with 70 points! They doubled all three first rounds, cementing an early lead that they managed to maintain (including a perfect Round 6). Second went to Counter Intelligence at a very close 69 points! They scored doubles in both the handout rounds, as well as nailing a perfect Round 5. Third this week once again was Team Chili's with 62 points! They scooped up doubles in Rounds 1 and 6, and were one of a handful of teams to guess Round 5's Connection. Well done, all teams!

QUIZ RECAP

A pea-soup fog enshrouded the brewery this week, a brief respite from the thundery rain sweeping across the southland in recent weeks. It couldn't dampen the competition, however, as always -- and our teams brought the scores to prove it. Once again, The Bar rocketed to first place with 68 total points after successful doubles in Rounds 1, 3, and 5, as well as a perfect Round 6. They didn't even guess in Round 4. But The Bar cannot win a prize, so!

In the end, that prize went to Brewsual Suspects with 61 points! They nabbed doubles in Rounds 1 and 3, and only missed one point in the final two rounds. Second went to Cool Story Brew with 58 points, whose incorrect Round 4 guess was made up for by those same doubles and near-perfect rounds as the previous team. Third went to Team Chili's at a close 57 points! They had an incorrect guess as well, but doubled in Round 1 and caught up fast with a 20-point double in Round 6. Well done, all teams!

QUIZ RECAP

It was wonderful to be back at Brouwerij West after a week off, and what a game to come back to! The average score this week was 31 points -- a tough game, all agreed. We had only four double attempts in the entire game, the lowest I've seen at this brewery in quite some time. The game wound up a tie at 50 points, and one of those at the top was The Bar: as The Bar can't win a prize, they chose to forgo the tiebreaker question.

In the end, that meant Team Chili's took their first first-place spot with 50 points!! They and The Bar had the only successful doubles of the night, both 20-pointers in Round 5 (the only two teams to successfully figure out the connection). Second went to The Test Tickles at 39 points! They had one of the highest Round 4 guesses at 8 points and played smartly throughout. Third was 900 Dollarydoo$ at 37 points, who also scored one of those 8-point guesses in Round 4. Well done, all teams!

We had an informal just-for-fun tiebreaker after the game. The question: How many counties and county equivalents are there in the U.S.?
Team Chili's: 600.
The Bar: 300.
