Maybe it was the threat of rain hanging over the next morning, or maybe it was the joy of chicken nachos from the food truck. Whatever it was, trivians were out in droves this week at Brouwerij West, with a cool 24 teams joining in our game. And the scores ranged from round to round -- Round 6 saw two-thirds of the teams attempt a double, while Round 3 saw a three-point average per team. But only one team could beat the odds and take it all!

In the end, it was Brewsual Suspects who jumped to the top of the pedestal with a big 76 points! They leapt ahead with the only successful Round 3 double, then cemented their lead with doubles in Rounds 5 and 6. Next up was Team X-Blades with 66 points! They were doing fairly well throughout the game but really made their move with doubles in Rounds 6 and 7. Third was a tie between Baby It's Cold Outside and Counter Intelligence at 58 points! Both teams scored one 20-point double each, but Baby It's Cold Outside got the closer guess in the "number of days off-earth record" tiebreaker. Well done, all teams!

A doubleful Picture Round, a one-team-guessed Connection, a 10-point Guess Who?, and a perfect tie. Quite a week!

In the end, it was Uncomfortably Dumb who took first after an 84-point tiebreaker! Their guess for Queen Anne's birth year was 1880. The Test Tickles, who also scored 84 points (both teams scored four doubles each) was 1886. The correct answer was 1665. Third place went to Brewsual Suspects with 68 points, nailing their doubles in Rounds 1 and 6. Well done, all teams!

Your Quizmaster fully expected a small handful of rain-drenched stalwarts to comprise the entire ranks of our trivia game last night. You can imagine her surprise when we hopped into Round 1 with 27 teams.

And those 27 teams were ready to party. Double attempts, well- and ill-fated, were the dominant theme of the game, with most teams going for it at least once. Those successful ones really jumped some teams up, while those unsuccessful held a few teams back.

In the end, it was The Test Tickles who scooped first for the fourth week in a row at an astronomical 91 points. That meant they scored four doubles, in Rounds 1, 2, 5, and 6, and got that 10-point Round 4 guess. Next up was Brewsual Suspects with a big 83 points, who scored almost identically to their first-place rivals save for that Round 2 double. Third went to Cool Princess 500, whose 69 points came from those same Round 5 and Round 6 doubles and that 10-point Round 4 guess. Well done, all teams!

It is truly a blessing to this little host to show up at a big leaky brewery in the midst of a winter storm and be greeted with such kind and enthusiastic trivians (and as always, fabulous staff). What a life.
