QUIZ RECAP

As a big fan of this, the spookiest month of the year, your Quizmaster took the opportunity to bring each week's game in with a different haunting introduction. We had a bit from Thriller, the Haunted Mansion, the Monster Mash -- but what for All Hallows' Eve itself? Well, with a little push from Shakespeare, an original poem:

"Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn and brewery bubble.
Summon beer and ghostly band:
The quizzing hour is close at hand.

On this night of Halloween,
Better keep your senses keen.
If you make it through Round Five,
You might make it out alive.

The spooks may speak, the dead may walk
On Wednesday night at seven o'clock.
By these giant shiny drums,
Some King Trivia this way comes!"

And what a frightful night it was! Trivians dressed in all manner of ghoulish costumes, including our applause-o-meter contest winners: Carl and Russell from Up! Hope those pumpkin spice cupcakes were scary-delicious. Though many of our usual crowd were out conducting their dark celebrations elsewhere, we still had eleven teams for our terrifying Halloween game.

In the end, it was The Brewsual Suspects who took first with a big 83 points! They nabbed four doubles, including a Round 5 double that earned them 20 points. Next up was Cool Princess 500 with 66 points, also grabbing that Round 5 double! In third came newcomers Zombie Band with 64 total points! Their doubles in Rounds 2 and 5 got them right up near the top. Well done, all teams!

It was my wicked pleasure to spend the year's most chilling night in the company of Brouwerij West's (BOOwerij West?) dedicated trivians. Nowhere else I'd rather haunt.

QUIZ RECAP

It may have been Game 2 of a Dodgers World Series, but it was still a Wednesday night at Brouwerij West -- and that means trivians! We had a silent game this week, all handout-based, and if you thought the baseball game would depress the number of teams handing in answer sheets, you'd have been mistaken. Over the course of the game, we had 26 different teams playing. GO BLUE!

In the end, it was The Test Tickles who grabbed first again this week with a big 75 points! They scored three doubles and could even have gotten one more. Next was And in first place with 1227 points in second place with 59 points. Their near-prophetic name aside, they scored two doubles and also had a perfect penultimate round. Third went to Team Kavanova with 57 points! They did get that penultimate double, along with one in Round 1.

Although the Dodgers couldn't clinch that win, I still feel that every night at Brouwerij West is a personal win for me, getting to hang out with all of you. And next week, who knows what spooks and spells will come out to thrill and chill our trivia game?

Our top three teams were within three points of each other this week! Reflective of a game that was, as one trivian put it, "Hard but still fun enough." Agreed!

In the end, it was Here For The Beer who came out on top with 69 points! They got doubles in Rounds 1, 2, and 7. They were one point ahead of Cool Princess 500, whose doubles were in Rounds 2, 3, and 7. In third was The Test Tickles with 66 points, scoring doubles in Rounds 1, 3, and 7. They were all going strong throughout the game, but that Round 7 double will really put you over the top!

Only two teams this week turned in a correct Round 4 Guess Who? guess -- and none of our three winners did! Just goes to show, a setback in trivia may truly be trivial.
