QUIZ RECAP

A stiff breeze buffets the palm trees standing sentry outside Brouwerij West. The sun hasn't quite begun to stain the sky pink and orange, but as it begins to sink low over Palos Verdes hill, it looks like it's trying to warn me. I laugh, carefree, and enter the brewery. A wave of force hits me like a photon cannon across the imaginary spaceship bridge I first wrote of months ago -- but this time...

TWENTY-ONE TEAMS 2: TWENTY-SIX TEAMS STRIKE BACK

A red alert flashes across the bridge once more. The entire ship rocks under the barrage of energy launched against it.
"Status report, ensign!"
"Captain, our craft can't take much more of this!"
"Craft! Good one, ensign."
"Captain, this is serious! It's happening again. They're back!"
"Back? You mean... the 21 teams?"
"Worse this time, captain. If these readings are accurate, we're looking at -- well --"
"Spit it out, ensign!"
"... 26 teams, captain."
"... My god."

AND WHAT A GAME IT WAS! A tidal wave of 10-point guesses in Round 4, a tightly competitive close scoreboard through the middle rounds, a hopscotch of successful and unsuccessful doubles throughout. In the end, it was Wannabe Vegans who emerged with first place at 75 points, followed by That's A Tasty Burger with 74 points, and Test Tickles with 73. A photo finish to a behemoth game. Well done, all teams!

It was all your little Quizmaster could do to keep up with the scoring process, hand moving like blaster fire. (Hopefully with better-than-Stormtrooper accuracy rate.)

QUIZ RECAP

Quite an energetic competition for the top this week! A team scored that sweet, sweet first-ever successful double and the glory radiating off of them was palpable. Several teams spent the last half of the game on the edge of their seats trying to see whose doubles would successfully rocket them above the rest.

In the end, it was That's A Tasty Burger! who snagged first with 69 points! They grabbed a couple early doubles and maintained high scores through the rest of the rounds -- wisely not doubling when it would have taken them down. In second came Cool Princess 500, whose raucous back-to-back 20-point doubles launched them to a final 64 points. Finally, it was I'm not racist... but... in third with 63 total points. Their two late-round doubles balanced out a -1 incorrect answer in Round 4. Well done, all teams!

A brewery full of enthusiastic trivians will really boost your whole week. You're just the tops, Brouwerij West.

QUIZ RECAP

A big ol' game after a week of being off for the holiday! Everyone missed the brewery, including your Quizmaster. There were some tough rounds, a lot of unsuccessful doubles, and a healthy dose of surprise triumph.

In the end, it was the newly renamed Here for the Beer that took the top prize! With two early doubles and consistent high points, their 60 points put them just barely ahead of Counter Intelligence. They racked up 59 total points with early doubles and a correct 10-point guess in Round 4. In third came Wannabe Vegans with 54 points, who overcame an unsuccessful double and an incorrect Round 4 answer with the only Round 6 20-point double. Well done, all teams!

Shout out to my friend and family who came down to the brewery this week! Keep an eye out for the Fire Party EP coming out sometime in 2023 probably (not).
