It was quite the week at Eastlake Bar for trivia! We had so much happen, with a tough fight for second place, a dominating performance for first, and some double or nothing connection failures.
Team The Sassy Squatches (they worked really hard on this name) and the Harbor Zoo had trouble scoring on their double or nothings throughout the night which led to their low point totals. However, oddly enough in rounds 5 and 6 they both missed the same exact question by giving the same exact wrong answer to lose the double or nothing! Weird connection, happenstance, or mysterious trivia ghosts haunting these teams? We may never know.
Team Kale made a great comback on the night by scoring 20 points in the Find the Connection round which propped them into 2nd place and they were able to hold onto that spot for the rest of the night.
The other story is the domination by Donner Party of 5 (still with more than 5 people on the team. What are they up to?). This team scored multiple double or nothings to take the top spot early and then just built their lead from there. What about the other teams' morale? Look, there are no friends in the trivia game. Well, there are or otherwise you don't have a team and it's a friendly game but still, someone has to win.
We'll see what happens next week and if these teams come back to exact revenge on Donner Party of 5. Team Santa's Sack may bring a lump of coal even (at least let's hope that's what they bring). Come on out for the fun!

Another night of trivia and another night of intrigue! Things got off to a hot start with 5 teams getting a double or nothing in the first round. Poor Krispy Kreme Dreamz missed their opening double or nothing and had trouble catching up, but we'll give them moral points for sticking it out and trying their best!
It was a pretty close fight between the top 5 teams for most of the night and though the Donner Party of 5 ended up with a 9 point margin of victory, most of the night they led by only 1-3 points.
I was happy to discover that the Jewish Mafia were not a violent organization and did not intimidate the quizmaster to get a better position. I'll also give props to team Grapes for having a simple but fun team name and they also came within 1 point of getting 2nd place!
Better luck next time to our non-winning teams and hopefully they'll come back next week for revenge while Donner Party of 5 and Butch Trivia Cougar (Formally Fancy Brien) hope to defend their titles!

No lead is safe when it comes to trivia! At least, not tonight in what turned out to be a wild game for first place. The DONNERPARTY5 had an early double or nothing lead in the game with the first round and kept a significant lead for most of the game.
Perhaps they thought they were safe and first place would come easy to them tonight. Maybe they got complacent. Who knows? But The Evil Tampire is not the type of team to give up, apparently. They fought back and scored a big double or nothing netting them 20 points and tying for the lead late in the game. Then, both teams hit on the next double or nothing in the 6th round to remain tied.
This lead made it virtually impossible for anyone else to catch them. Plant Parenthood played a valiant game but got tripped up in a couple of rounds. Not Last Place accomplished their main goal of not being in last place. And Schutt Dynasty was short handed with only two players on their team and unfortunally neither one of the PhDs was in pop culture where they struggled the most.
But the game came down to the final round with our top two teams tied at 58 points apiece. They each did their best to name the top circulated newpapers in the U.S. but The Evil Tampire, who made an amazing comeback, overthought the last round by thinking about how old people tend to buy papers and thus left out the crucial Minneapolis Star Tribune that could've sent them to the tie breaker.
The DONNERPARTY5 lost their cushiony lead but came up with one more answer in the final round to retake the lead and win the game! It was an eventful night and an impressive performance so we'll have to see what happens next week!
