About Lost Winds Brewing Company

San Clemente locals Tim Thralls, Andrew Mack and Tim Burke, founded Lost Winds Brewing Company on the idea that thoughtfully made craft beer can appeal to the masses – from casual beer drinkers that enjoy lighter ales to craft beer enthusiasts seeking hoppy IPAs, sours, stouts, saisons, and barrel-aged beers. We are excited to introduce you to our line-up with a focus on Belgian style beers.

Lost Winds Brewing Company is located halfway between Los Angeles and San Diego, in a small beach town known as "the Spanish Village by the Sea". San Clemente has long been an idyllic place to surf world class breaks and hit the beach with friends. Tim Thralls, our managing partner and award winning home brewer, together with Brandon Winneker, our classically trained head brewer and Seahawks Junky are now helping to make San Clemente a world-class craft beer destination as well. [MEET THE CREW]

YES, WE KNOW IT’S CALLED “LASUEN”.

The ocean and the history of our California beach community are central components of Lost Winds Brewing Company. Our brewery is named after a local surf break and beach, Lost Winds, which many don't realize is named after a loose pronunciation of the street that leads to the staircase to Lost Winds Beach, “Calle Lasuen". Lost Winds, LW, Lasuens... all the same beach. Padre Fermin Francisco de Lasuen himself was a Franciscan Priest and successor of Saint Junipero Serra. He founded nine of the iconic missions up and down the coast of California; and he is even responsible for introducing the classic Spanish adobe style ubiquitous around town and at all California missions.

Good surf, a classic beach community, a little bit of California history, and now great beer. We love where we live and can’t wait to see you at Lost Winds Brewing Company!

Congrats to Go Big or Go Home for your very first win at Lost Winds! We knew you could do it. And you were so close to the two-fer by placing second in the Free Beer Round.

Speaking of Free Beer Round… shout out to the ladies for finishing in the top three over all-male competitors on International Women's Day. Fitting.

This week's "Free Beer Round" was our own version of Oktoberfest's "Masskrugstemmen." This is a last-man-standing game, pitting those who can hold their beer up at their own shoulder's height the longest… without spilling! We say last "man" standing lightly, as obviously, the ladies ruled the evening.

The winners for our Masskrugstemmen were team Business Write-Off, who also won second place. We actually had a tie for second this week. The ladies of Business Write-Off guessed the closest to our question, "How many episodes of The Oprah Winfrey Show aired during its 25 seasons?" They answered 4,275, but the actual answer was 4,561! Well done, ladies.

Thanks, everyone, for coming out, and again… see you next Tuesday!

Your QM, Jeff

This week we had our first tie game ever at Lost Winds since we’ve been hosts! To decide the win, we asked, “According to loc.gov, in millions, how many items are in the Library of Congress’s collection?” Moist Huckleberry guessed closest to the correct answer (171 million), only a half-million more than McGuires on Fire thought, and took the win!

Bead tossing is typically seen on Bourbon Street during Mardi Gras, so we thought, why not bring it to our beloved brewery and see what happens? It was Fat Tuesday after all, which most everyone forgot except, of course, our Catholic team - see you guys after Lent! Despite some of you offering alternative ways in which beads could be earned, we only asked you to try and catch them into your glittered-up hat. We are not opposed to said proposals, but we really want to continue being your hosts. 😉

Armed with beads, everyone rose to the challenge and began tossing them over the balcony to their teammates below. We ended up having a tie in the bead toss too! We gave the tying teams 60 seconds to catch as many as possible to break this tie. Team Hokie Pokie won it with 19 beads. Being the beautiful people they are, Hokie Pokie actually gave their prize of free beer to their competitors Go Big or Go Home, giving us even more reason to cheer.

Quick shout out to Team Oblivion, who won last place but played it through to the end earning him a free beer shot. Not bad for a one-man team! Also, thanks for helping sing Happy Birthday to my Uncle David on team Ralph. He turned 70 today and we've never seen him turn so red!

As always, thanks for playing this week, and come back for more next week!

Do you know what's awesome about Trivia here at Lost Winds?

The fact that some teams, no matter how long they have been away, for whatever reason, is they come back and somehow take first place. We missed you "Scott's Tots"!

Congrats on holding it down. "DRYving miss Daisy" kept you in check, but ultimately you doubled down enough to hold the ranks.

As we all witnessed, this week's Free Beer Round was won by "Go Big or Go Home," who knew just exactly how to celebrate this 2/22/2022 day by throwing down just right the right amount of two-sided dice to get the win.

We loved every minute of tonight, especially the banter. It's always the best part of being your hosts.

See you all next Tuesday.
