It was a hot one both indoors and out at Schilling Cider House this Monday, as two past-week top performers, the teams formerly known as Sith Happens and Trivia Neutron Bomb, joined forces to create the most dominant supergroup that Seattle has seen since Temple of the Dog.

Their newly-formed Aubrey Plaza Hotel California Raisins took a commanding lead early on with a first-round doubs-or-noth bet that paid off.

Out-of-towners Quiz Team Aguilera brought the Manhattan heat wave all the way out to the Best Coast. They had an impressive 6-round run, but a big bet Double-or-Nothing in Round 7 cost them a tie for second place at the very last second.

Repeat challengers And She's Calling a Cab brought their A-game against some tough competition. Although their 2-person team was outnumbered, they gave the leading team a run for the prize money with two perfect rounds and an almost-encyclopedic knowledge of Leo DiCaprio's highest-grossing films. In any other week, their absolutely titanic 68-point score would have been enough to sink the competition, but this week, there just wasn't enough room on that door.

After seven rounds, Aubrey Plaza Hotel California Raisins' 77-point game was just too much to overcome, and they clinched first prize as well as a win for best team name...but they might want to watch out for the Federal Trade Commission this week, since I hear they're about to crack down on on those antitrust laws.

Think you can topple these brainy repeat contenders? Come on down to Schilling Cider House next Monday at 7pm, and let's find out!

Game Rank Team # Team Name Score Teams Beaten Team Beat Average
1 Aubrey Plaza Hotel California Raisins 77 2 1.000
2 21049 And She's Calling a Cab 68 1 0.500
3 Quiz Team Aguilera 45 0 0.000

It was a dark and stormy night. Luckily, that didn't stop five dedicated teams from showing the Seattle gloom who's boss and throwing it down, King Trivia - style!

Our first four teams started off the General Knowledge round neck and neck, setting the tone for a close game with plenty of twists and turns. Sith Happens and Ramrod kicked things off with 5 out of 6 possible points, with That Blackout was Shocking and Didn't Know it was Trivia Night holding their own at the top of the game.

Seattle's a tech town, and even though none of our fictional companies have made an appearance on the Geekwire 200, each and every team busted out their best startup knowledge to bring our picture round to a four-way, one-point game. Newcomers Area 51 were no slouches, either, despite having a 45-second window to get their answers in for Round 2.

Double or nothing giveth and double or nothing taketh away. Two supremely confident teams exercised the option for our "Um...er...Um" round. Sith Happens doubled...Ramrod nothinged. And so it goes.

A big, warm Pelosi clap goes out to our competitors for a stellar performance in Round 4's guess who. That Blackout was Shocking dominated, getting the name of our Speaker of the House in my hand before I could even repeat the 10-point clue. Nice work to them, Ramrod, and Didn't Know it was Trivia Night for correctly guessing one of the tougher entries I've seen in this round.

At the halfway mark, their stellar political guess-who put That Blackout Was Shocking in the lead with 26 points, followed by Sith Happens's 22 points, Didn't Know it was Trivia Night with 20 points, Ramrod licking their wounds from that whiffed double-or-nothing with 18 points, and Area 51 hustling to catch up with 9 points. But this is trivia, and anything can happen!

The standings stayed consistent through Round 5's Find the Connection -- but get those survival kits out, because Round 6 saw a 6.7-magnitude shakeup. Ramrod went for redemption with a successful double-or-nothing, taking the lead with a perfect score and a deep knowledge of state-themed songs.

After a tough Round 7, Ramrod was able to hold on to their spot at the top of the heap to pull off the upset and take home the grand prize. That Blackout may have been shocking, but not as shocking as this early front-runner's second-place finish. And, winning our honorable mention prize with our favorite team name, Area 51 proved that the fastest way to my heart is a real dank meme.

All in all, our second week at Schilling Cider House was a blast. Could the third time really be a charm for your team? Gather your smartest friends and let's find out, next Monday at 7pm!

Game Rank Team # Team Name Score Teams Beaten Team Beat Average
1 21221 Ramrod 53 3 1.000
2 21222 That Blackout was Shocking 51 2 0.667
3 21224 Team didn’t know it was trivia night 44 1 0.333
4 Area 51 20 0 0.000

A case of the Mondays isn't always a terminal diagnosis. At King Trivia's inaugural Monday night show at Schilling Cider, it was just what the doctor ordered.

After a lil' Round 1 General Knowledge warmup that was anyone's game, Trivia Neutron Bomb took a commanding second-round lead by doubling down on their knowledge of Rogers.

Round 3 was all about apples. And what better place to test these competitors' knowledge of the forbidden fruit than...a cidery? We saw a strong performance from every team this round, and a special shoutout goes out to 436 and Marv & the Marvins for joining the fun in this round and continuing to put up some solid numbers all night long.

This week's Guess Who was a real battle of wits, with a few teams making their final guess just under the buzzer and a few incorrect - but very good- guesses entered into play. Ultimately, Trivia Neutron Bomb was able to correctly identify our mystery man as John Leguizamo, which sprung them even farther into the lead.

After a tough Round 4, there was no rest for the weary in Round 5's Find the Connection. Our brave teams traveled land and sea - but mostly sea - to find the connection between Frasier's brother, the Chronicles of Narnia, and Guillermo Del Toro's Kaiju army, all of which referenced a body of water. Several teams got the connection (including one very controversial call by yours truly), but Trivia Neutron Bomb continued to dominate with a perfect round.

Our teams found their Hakuna Matata with Round 6's Disney Duos. The Team Beyond the Wall, Positive Control Group, My Long-lost Appendix, Trivia Neutron Bomb, 436, and Marv & the Marvins all got down to business to defeat...the other teams. Each thought they had the competition cornered, but a surprise perfect-round, double-or-nothing performance by each and every team kept the standings consistent heading into the final set of questions.

Round 7 threw most teams a curveball by testing their knowledge of the 2019 NBA Draft. Positive Control Group and The Team Beyond the Wall excelled in this round, with Positive Control Group finishing strong with a perfect 10 points and The Team Beyond the Wall making your resident Quizmaster laugh with their ultra-creative take on NBA team names.

As luck (and skill) would have it, both of those teams ended the night on the podium, with The Team Beyond the Wall taking Honorable Mention for Best Team Name and Positive Control Group securing the second-place slot.

In the end, Trivia Neutron Bomb dropped just enough Trivia Knowledge Bombs to hang on to their commanding lead for a first place finish!

Thanks to all of our teams for the creative answers, the moderate heckling, and for a damn good time. See you all next Monday at the Schilling Cider House!
