On Tuesday evening at Snakes & Lattes a plethora of teams came to challenge their trivia skills. Our teams for the evening included; Dobby is a Free Elf, Crystal Dolphin, Sharpies Are Markers, The Feddleheads, Dogfish, Three Quarters, Let's Get Quizzical, SPPers, and We Thought This Was Kickball. Certainly a full house!

In our Round 1-General Knowledge a majority of the teams got roughly 4 points (before including points for registered teams). The 1 team to earn the most points this round was Sharpies Are Markers who earned 5 points. However after adding for registered teams, SPPers were in the lead with 6 points, as Sharpies Are Markers and We Thought This Was Kickball were tied for second with 5 points. In third a tie between Crystal Dolphin, Three Quarters, and Let's Get Quizzical who all had 4 points.

Round 2 asked our teams to identify the movies featuring the meals shown in the pictures. We had 2 teams decide to play their Double or Nothing in this round. The teams who played it were Three Quarters and Dogfish. Each were able to correctly identify all 8 movie meals which meant they were both able to earn an additional 16 points for their teams! This quickly brought the 2 teams into our top 2 spots with Three Quarters in the lead at 20 points and Dogfish in a close second with 18 points. The third place spot was currently held by the SPPers with 13 points.

Round 3 left our teams with many possibilities as each question had 2 potentially correct answers. Dogfish and Sharpies Are Markers were able to get all 6 answers correct. By this point in the game Three Quarters was in first with 25 points, in second with 24 points was Dogfish, third went to SPPers and Sharpies Are Markers who both had 18 points, fourth was Crystal Dolphin with 15 points, fifth was a tie between Dobby is a Free Elf and We Thought This Was Kickball with 14 points, sixth went to The Feddleheads who had 12 points, and seventh we had Let's Get Quizzical with 11 points.

This week's Round 4 was a Guess Where. Only one team incorrectly wrote down the Galapagos as the mystery location. However Dogfish and Dobby is a Free Elf guessed correctly after just 1 clue, earning their teams 10 additional points! We Thought This Was Kickball, The Feddleheads, Crystal Dolphin, and SPPers guessed correctly on the third clue giving their teams an extra 6 points each. While Let's Get Quizzical got it in 4 clues, giving them 4 points, and Sharpies Are Markers got it on our last clue giving them 2 points for their team. The correct answer to our mystery destination was the Great Barrier Reef.

Round 5 was our Find the Connection round. We had 2 teams choose to play their Double or Nothing for this round. Our teams who played them were Dobby is a Free Elf and SPPers. Unfortunately, SPPers missed just 1 of their written answers, meaning they would earn no points in this round. Dobby is a Free Elf did leave 2 spots blank but did get all of their written answers correct which meant they would earn 16 extra points for this round.

By this point Dogfish was in first place with 42 points, with Dobby is a Free Elf closely behind with 40 points. In third we had Three Quarters with 33 points, in fourth Sharpies Are Markers with 29, fifth Crystal Dolphin at 28, We Thought This Was Kickball in sixth with 27 points, a tie for seventh place of 24 points between SPPers and The Feddleheads, and in eighth we had Let's Get Quizzical with 19 points.

In Round 6 we got geographical about things. Our teams were asked to match each country with the country that shares it's western boarder. Let's Get Quizzical, The Feddleheads, and Sharpies Are Markers all decided to play their Double or Nothing for this round. Sharpies Are Markers were able to match up all 10 correctly, earning a total of 20 extra points for their team! Let's Get Quizzical had 8 answers written down and were able to get those 8 correct, giving them 16 points for their team. The Feddleheads had written all 10 answers down, but unfortunately they missed just 1 of the answers, meaning they would earn no points for the round.

Finally, to close out the evening, our teams were asked to name the top 10 all-time point scorers in the NBA (during the regular season only). We Thought This Was Kickball decided to use their Double or Nothing at this time, and unfortunately they got 1 of their written answers wrong, leaving them with no new points to close out the game.

In the end our scores were as follows: 1st-Sharpies Are Markers (59 points), 2nd-Dogfish (56 points), 3rd-Dobby is a Free Elf (53 points), 4th- Three Quarters (50 points), 5th- Crystal Dolphin and Let's Get Quizzical (41 points), 6th- SPPers (39 points), 7th- We Thought This Was Kickball (35 points), and 8th- The Feddleheads (24 points).

Moose On the Loose took an early lead and never looked back, racking up 62 total points as they cruised to a 7 point victory over 11 other teams. We Thought This Was Kickball, despite some confusion as to what game they were playing, doubled down in the last round, unsuccessfully.

Third place went to Sharpies Are Markers. Along with the uncanny ability to state the obvious, the Sharpies Are Markers team was smart enough to score 55 points.

One highlight was the two-women team of Lizz Em. Despite struggling all night to gain any traction, came through in the special drinking round. While the points in this special round did not go to the overall score, it did score these brain pugilists a nice cold frosty one.

The night started with an awkwardly sung them song from myself. My hope was that maybe it would inspire some teams to achieve incredible success.

Initially, it sparked a run out of Kingus, a new team with a massive amount of potential. Kingus managed five points in round one and five more in round two giving them double digits early on.

However, it was hard for Kingus to maintain their success especially with powerhouses Sharpies are Markers and We Thought this was Kickball performing at a high level.

But once Round 4 was hit, every team took a hit. Not one team even attempted to guess the famous entity (the first time this happened since July of 1967). The teams were dying to know who served as the First Lady of Argentina from 1946 to 1952. Unfortunately they may go the grave without ever knowing.

With three rounds to go, Sharpies are Markers and We Thought this was Kickball were locked in a tie, both at 28 and both doubling up the amount Kingus had attained. Sharpies are Markers gained a 4 point lead after round 5 then suffered a big blow in round 6 with an unsuccessful double down. The belief that The Killers were from Sydney, AU opened the door for We Thought this was Kickball to take the lead. Instead they just tied it up.

With the game coming down to a two horse race between We Thought this was Kickball and Sharpies are Markers, it all came down to the periodic table. This is where the Sharpies shined. Sharpies are Markers completed the perfect round. A 20 pointer secured the victory for Sharpies are Markers. By naming the 10 elements with 5 or fewer letters, Sharpies are Markers are worthy of real gold.

Game Rank Team # Team Name Score Teams Beaten Team Beat Average
1 Sharpies are Markers 56 3 1.000
2 23331 We thought this was kickball 50 2 0.667
3 22879 Kingus 36 1 0.333
4 Its Magic 10 0 0.000
