About The Famous Bar

The Famous craft cocktail lounge is located in Glendale's historic Huntley-Evans building, directly across the street from the Americana at Brand. It follows an eclectic and rich pedigree of establishments that have called this building home in the last century, most notably the early Glendale landmark, The Famous Department Store. The Famous, true to its heritage, embraces the classic art of fine craft cocktail creation, invented in the United States in 1856, using bitters, juices, syrups, and infusions, prepared in-house using fresh ingredients from local markets and growers. Cocktails served at The Famous are identical to those served nearly 100 years ago when the building was constructed.

It's very exciting when a team executes the successful and well-timed double-or-nothing option that takes 'em from the middle of the pack into the winner's circle!

Such was the case this week at The Famous in Glendale when Chicken in the Middle doubled in the 6th round to sprint past Because Jeopardy Won't Let Us Drink, who had been in the lead all night.

Yer A Quizard, Harry rounded out our top three finishers, finishing in the money again! Well done, Harry, Chicken and BJWLUD.

It was a night of highs and lows at The Famous in Glendale this week, as the double-or-nothing option brought glory to some teams, despair to others.

As we know, the successful DoN in rounds 5, 6 or 7 can result in a 20-point bump for the savvy team that pulls it off. And with scores as close as they were all night, a 20-point bump would have given any team the win!

For example, Yer a Quizard, Harry missed an opportunity to double in Round 5, and ended up in 4th place...by ONE point!

Gingers +1 executed a well-timed double in Round 6 to catapult themselves into the top three, while the hapless Barrelers crashed and burned with failed double attempts in BOTH Round 6 and 7, but still finished with a respectable 41 points! Imagine if they'd gotten those doubles! Glory within reach!!

Wanna test your luck and mental acuity? You'll have your chance next Thursday at the Famous. Come on out and give it a shot. See ya then!
