About The Famous Bar

The Famous craft cocktail lounge is located in Glendale's historic Huntley-Evans building, directly across the street from the Americana at Brand. It follows an eclectic and rich pedigree of establishments that have called this building home in the last century, most notably the early Glendale landmark, The Famous Department Store. The Famous, true to its heritage, embraces the classic art of fine craft cocktail creation, invented in the United States in 1856, using bitters, juices, syrups, and infusions, prepared in-house using fresh ingredients from local markets and growers. Cocktails served at The Famous are identical to those served nearly 100 years ago when the building was constructed.

Ya know, there are some questions that just can't be answered. Like, fer instance, these puzzlers:

    *turns out, these questions CAN be answered. See below...

When it comes to questions that CAN be answered, there's no one better to turn to than a team of King Trivia players, as was demonstrated last night by the good folks of Because Jeopardy Won't Let Us Drink, who both drank and won our regular Thursday night trivia quiz!

We Can't Hear You demonstrated the falseness of their team name, by hearing well enough to come in second. And Yer a Quizzard, Harry completed the troika by eking out a one-point edge over Gentle Sweaters.

A grand night, by any measure! (You'll get that point you needed NEXT Time, Sweaters! Thanks for playing, everyone. We'll see you again next week. In the meantime...

  1. A heart in love has an atomic weight of 196.96657 u ± 0.000004 u (which is the same as gold!) A broken heart - as we all surely know - is much, MUCH heavier.
  2. Are you NUTS!? SnapChat photos never disappear! Even now, they're being stored and studied by agents of the federal government. That's why I'm wearing this aluminum foil hat!!
  3. If I Only Had A Brain, obviously!
  4. There is simply no explanation for Chris' awesomeness. And it's just so unfair!! (I hear he wears tinfoil underwear, and there're SnapChat photos to prove it!)
  5. Warren Davis, George Malone and Charles Patrick wrote Who Wrote The Book of Love? back in 1957!
  6. Is God a Dodgers fan? Damn right he is! And this is the year, baby! THIS IS THE YEAR!!

It was a good night for Because Jeopardy Won't Let Us Drink last night, finishing in the top spot after coming in tied for fifth a week ago.

The other fifth-place finisher last week, The Barrelers, also moved up a few notches, finishing in third place.

Electric Mustache finished in the money again, disproving Emerson's famous quote about how "a foolish consistency is the hobgoblin of little minds..." Their minds aren't little. (But they may be hobgoblins!)

On the other hand, it was a tough night for last week's champ, Yer a Quizard Harry, who proved that even magical beings can have an off night now and then. Hey! It could be worse. You could be muggles!

Wow, what a night at The Famous! It's A Boy! took top honors with a strong performance. We congratulate you on your victory, and on the upcoming birth of your child. (We hear it's a boy! "Tim" is a good name for a boy - jus' sayin').

A real battle took place for second place between Electric Mustache and Yer a Quizard Harry.  The Mustache crew eked out the win, and earned a $20 gift certificate for their troubles. Great performance from both teams.

On a personal note, Round 7 was a little painful for your humble quizmaster last night. The task was to name People Magazine's ten most recent "Sexiest Men Alive."  I was reminded that People's sexiest men list of winners and runners-up has  NEVER included Quizmaster Tim.

It's not so much that I've been overlooked. It's that I lost to unattractive, talentless hacks like Chris Hemsworth, Channing Tatum, Ryan Reynolds and Bradley Cooper!
