About The Famous Bar

The Famous craft cocktail lounge is located in Glendale's historic Huntley-Evans building, directly across the street from the Americana at Brand. It follows an eclectic and rich pedigree of establishments that have called this building home in the last century, most notably the early Glendale landmark, The Famous Department Store. The Famous, true to its heritage, embraces the classic art of fine craft cocktail creation, invented in the United States in 1856, using bitters, juices, syrups, and infusions, prepared in-house using fresh ingredients from local markets and growers. Cocktails served at The Famous are identical to those served nearly 100 years ago when the building was constructed.

Scene from a King Trivia quiz night:

She looked so forlorn, sitting there on her stool, tragically beautiful and all alone in the otherwise crowded, noisy bar. She looked around, searching the place for a friendly face; any sign of a potential ally. But there was no help to be had.

"What's the matter, m'dear?" the handsome young stranger asked, suddenly appearing at her side. "You look a bit...kerfuffled," he added. "Can I help?"

"My friend's not here, she said she would be, but she's not. And now the quiz has started and I don't know what the more common name for a 'furcula' is!"

"Well that's no problem," the gallant young man said. "Make a wish, and I'll tell you the answer," he said...

There's nothing like a photo finish to bring out the competitive spirit in King Trivia players. And thus it was Thursday night at The Famous, when Yer a Quizzard Harry and Sham Wow (But Wait! There's More!) ended the game with identical scores of 84!

But hey! That's what we have tiebreaker questions for! And thus it was that the Quizzardly kids of Harry eked out the win, with the fine folks of Gentle Sweaters coming in third with an oh-so-close 82!

We enjoyed a BIG, BIG night at The Famous this week. There was the usual boasting and trash-talking, of course, and QM Tim (that's me!) took a beer-soaked paper towel to the face from the girl in photo #1 above! (Note to self: the innocent-looking women are always the most dangerous!)

The competition was FIERCE, with five teams finishing within 7 points of each other - all with 60 points or better! Amazing!

Join us next Thursday (or any Thursday) for an evening of fun and trivia at one of the hottest nightspots on Glendale's famed Brand boulevard. I'll be the guy with a beer-soaked paper towel on his head.
