QUIZ RECAP

Tonight all our teams came to the Penny Taphouse with enthusiasm to play trivia and a competitive spirit! Some familiar faces were here battling it out, such as COVID DELTA-FORCE, My Harry Potter has Hogwarts, and Les Quizrables. Some new faces also came out as well with their best punny names, such as Nightmare Before Quizmas. 

Our came tonight was filled with modern references that excited everyone, such as Star Wars, Frozen, Lord of the Rings, the Princess Bride, and Mario. It led to a lot of great references both in answers and in the question delivery. 

One of the funnest moments of the night was the outrage caused by the question regarding Samwise's favorite tuber (P-O-T-A-T-O-E-S boil 'em, mash 'em, stick 'em in a stew!) was guessed incorrectly in favor of Gandalf's iconic "Fly you fools!" line. To which the outraged was answered with, "What's a tuber??" 

The game was tight the first few rounds, but My Harry Potter Has Hogwarts swept in for a strong lead halfway through the game. But that doesn't mean our other teams didn't have fun! Every round brought cheers of victory and drumrolls for answers. 

Wednesday nights just keep getting better and better with each new team that comes to battle out their best brain knowledge here at the Penny Taphouse. y

QUIZ RECAP

Wednesday night at the Penny Taphouse here in San Angelo was the highest energy night we've had so far!

All the teams brought out their best energy, best answers (or funniest wrong answers) and best attitudes to celebrate getting halfway through the week. 

Some familiar faces, such as the Pitcocks, COVID-DELTA FORCE, the Karens With Attitude and Les Quizrables returned to battle it out for our top spots tonight, while some newcomers brought funny new names to the table. My Drinking Team Has A Trivia Problem made everyone laugh, including me! 

We started off strong in our general knowledge round with a set of answers that made us all laugh too hard to speak. When asked what the name of the highest mountain in Idaho was, we got answers such as Mount Tater Crater (active volcano) and Mt. Ho. 

The answers that had us rolling didn't stop there though, they continued throughout the night as we all scratched our heads during the Guess Who and Find the Connection rounds (where a team tried to be sneaky by saying the connection was that "You said all the answers"). 

The best part of the night by far was celebrating Dalton and Jannie's birthdays with a special rendition of Happy Birthday that the whole trivia crew joined in on, followed by jamming out to "I Will Survive" just for them. 

It was a tough battle for points, with much of the game either very close or tied, by at the last minute the COVID-DELTA FORCE swooped in to unexpectedly take the win with a close 46 points, meaning that next week our teams will just have to come back to the Penny Taphouse to fight for the win once again.

QUIZ RECAP

Tonight at the Penny Taphouse we celebrated making it halfway through the week with a fun filled trivia night. We had an amazing turnout of trivia talents tonight with seven teams that fought for the top rankings. 

Most of the rounds concluded with ties that had players on their edge of their seats, especially the ties between infamous Karens With Attitude and My Harry Potter Has Hogwarts and Les Quizrables and COVID-DELTA Force. 

We changed it up from Dad Rock this week to a mixture of power rock and peppy pop that met everyone's musical ear worms. As I said: "part of my fun is getting all the songs stuck in my had through the week in yours."

Our rounds this week sparked intense conversation between group mates as they all worked together to find the best answers and decide whether they should attempt the Double or Nothing...followed by good natured grumbling when their gamble didn't pay out. 

In our final round we added some interesting faces to our vice president list, some of which were: Jeffrey Bezos, Elon Musk, Bill Gates, and Rick from Rick and Morty. 

The Penny Taphouse once again proved itself to be a high energy venue with fantastic trivia savants that make each Wednesday night better than the last!
